History
The current University Park Woodsmen Team was established in the Spring of 2003 after a semester of fundraising during the Fall of 2002. Our first competition was at Colby College, Maine, after which a year and a half hiatus was taken to raise more funds and purchase needed equipment. In the Fall of 2004, we became active in competition again and attended the Fleming meet in Lindsay, Ontario; since then we have been competing in many states throughout the East and against our northern neighbors in Canada.
In the Fall of 2006, we took first at the West Point, Virginia, Crabfest for the second year in a row, winning out over North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia University. We also attended the Fleming meet in Lindsay, Ontario and finished mid-pack against stiff competition. For more information on Canadian Intercollegiate Lumberjacking click here.
Currently the team sends men's and combined men's and women's teams to compete in New York, West Virginia, Ontario, and Pennsylvania.
