WIB members who attended the 2008 Conference The Powerful Women Paving the Way Conference was inspired by Women in Business’ 10-year anniversary. The awards WIB has received in the past years were made possible not only by the continued dedication of the current executive board and members, but also by the hard work of those that precede us, and it seemed necessary to hold a celebration of our past and future. Gus Colangelo, the Dean of Undergraduate Programs and the adviser of Women in Business, was further inspired to make an event to celebrate all women in business, and the conference was created. In its first year, there were over 200 alumni, faculty, undergraduates, and more in attendance. After proving such a huge success, the Smeal College of Business decided to make this an annual event.
