I. Joining Women in Business

How you can join WIB:

Join Women in Business at any of our general meetings or INvolvement Nights. If you have any questions or concerns related to membership, please contact our Membership Chair, Amber Mohammed.

Dues:

Dues are $15 this semester or $25 for the year.  $1 of the membership fee will go towards the Ronald McDonald House. Dues must be paid by the 2nd Involvement Night to be considered an active member! Also, please hand in a membership form, Membership_Form_09-10. Contact our Membership Chair, Amber Mohammed.

Email Listserv:

All official Women In Business communications are sent through our membership e-mail Listserv. If you are considering joining WIB and would like to receive information about upcoming meetings or events, please e-mail our Membership Chair, Amber Mohammed, to be added to the Listserv.

Surveys:

Please fill out the 2008 Member Survey and return it electronically or in an envelope to our Membership Chair, Amber Mohammed.

 

II. Active Membership

 

In order to be considered an active member of Women In Business, please review the guidelines below. Members who would like to get more involved are strongly encouraged to attend our “Involvement Nights.”

In order to be considered an active member, members must:

  • Attend 1 corporate meeting or 1 corporate luncheon per semester
  • Attend 1 out of the 4 THON canning weekends
  • Pay dues for the current semester or the year by the 2nd Involvement Night
  • Have at least 15 points at the end of the semester.

Below is the breakdown of membership points:

  • Attend 1 corporate meeting = 3 points each
    • If a member attends all 3 corporate meetings, she will receive an extra point at the end of the semester.
  • Attend 1 corporate luncheon = 2 points each
  • Attend 1 Canning Trip = 5 points for each trip
  • Involvement Nights = 2 points each
  • Spirit Points = 1 point per event or purchase
  • Community Service Committee Meeting = 1 point per meeting
  • THON Committee Meeting = 1 point per meeting
  • Other events = 1 point per event
  • Fall dues must be paid to be eligible to become an active member and for THON
  • Spring dues must be paid to be eligible for the conference and elections.

Please note that there is a separate THON point system.

The points earned for each event will be stated in the weekly emails.

The most recently updated Membership Points are attached for your convenience. (Updated: 11/16/09). If you have any discrepancies please e-mail Amber Mohammed.

The list of Active_Members from this past year is attached. Please remember you must be active to vote in the end-of-year elections.

III. Office Hours

This is a great opportunity for members to stop by and meet with the executive board. The executive board can help you get involved in WIB, learn about majors, find internships, study abroad, class scheduling, resumes, and anything else!

Office hours are Tuesdays (2:30-3:30) and Wednesdays (3:30-4:30) in 207 HUB.

IV. Alumni and Graduating Members

  • Please e-mail Amber Mohammed if you would like to be removed from the Membership listserv. Please put "Remove from WIB ListServ" in the subject line.
  • If you are graduating and would like to receive our monthly WIB E-mail Newsletter, please note that in your e-mail to Sam Marcus, along with a forwarding e-mail address.
  • Thank you for your membership in WIB!

The newsletters are created at the end of every month to highlight a number of WIB's events and let our affiliates know the progress of WIB. These newsletters are sent to our Penn State WIB Alumni, our corporate partners, and our current members. If you would like to receive these email newsletters or have any comments on the newsletters, please contact Allie Miller.
