What is THON?

The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON) is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world, with all the proceeds benefiting The Four Diamonds Fun, Conquering Childhood Cancer, at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey Pennsylvania. After a year-round fundraising effort by the students of all Penn State campuses, THON culminates in a 46 hour no-sitting, no-sleep dance marathon in the Bryce Jordan Center.

Meet Emma

Emma Lindsay Johnson  is five years old and lives in Hershey, PA with her parents Cindy and Shane and little brother Sammy.  Emma loves to dance and enjoys spending time with friends and her little brother Sammy.  Emma was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in 2006.  After a brave fight and lots of support from Emma's Army, family and friends she went into remission in February of 2007.  Whiplash Dance Team and Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) have been honored to have Emma as there THON child for the past 2 years and is excited to dance for Emma another year.

Canning:
Four weekends out of the academic year organizations travel to raise money for THON. Students canning stand on street corners and near businesses with a can asking for donations. To host students on a canning trip please contact our canning THON chair.
