Quintessence

Quintessence is published:

  • To provide knowledge and education on the science and technology of the self
  • To present the wisdom and culture of ancient India's spiritual tradition for study, research and application in modern times
  • To highlight living examples of spiritual ideals
  • To inspire thought and action in charting human progress beyond the confines of materialism, impersonalism and voidism
  • To create a culture of complete well-being

Quintessence is a quarterly magazine published by a group of individuals that represent a growing movement calling for a change in the way we live, the way we eat, the way we interact with each other and the way we deal with our environment. It is an attempt to lay the literary foundation for building a human civilization that focuses on spiritual well-being; that cares for all life; that cares for the environment; and a civilization that inspires, nurtures and sustains spiritual progress. The magazine is distributed in college campuses across North America.

We hope Quintessence provides meaning and purpose to your life.

Yoga means:

Yoga

There are various conceptions about yoga and its true purpose is often misunderstood. A simple, original and precise definition of yoga is that which establishes and nurtures the connection between the ultimate cause and its effects, or the source and its emanations, or the supreme energetic and its energies. The various effects in this world can be broadly categorized into four: life (or consciousness), and body, mind and intelligence (or matter). When these effects remain in a healthy and natural state of connection with their ultimate cause, the supreme absolute truth (known as Krishna in the sanskrit Vedas) - that is the state of yoga. Lack of such connection results in lack of well-being.

Well-being means:

Well Being

Human beings (and all life) are complex entities with multi-dimensional - spiritual, intellectual, mental and bodily - existence. Each dimension has a corresponding set of needs associated with it. Well-being arises from the satisfaction of these needs. Spiritual needs are the most subtle and most important. If these needs aren't met, all other dimensions of well-being suffer. Complete well-being is achieved when the multi-dimensional needs are met, with special focus on the spiritual dimension.
