Hat Tournament Cancelled
Posted on August 28, 2009
Due to the weather, we were not granted the flower garden fields for
Saturday. Consequently there will be no tournament this weekend.
Instead, we will ask certain teams to come to practice on Monday and
Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday. That will come soon. You will all
be refunded your tournament fee money if you paid.

Saturday "Tryouts" and Hat Tournament
Posted on August 18, 2009 by niko
We will be holding an instructional tournament on Saturday August 29th for all new and returning
players interested in playing for the club this year. The tournament will run from 11am - 5pm on West
Campus Turf Fields (White Course and Atherton Street across from Rec Hall).
Registration will be on Wednesday August 26th at 9pm at Willard Building. Please bring a completed
Club Sports Waiver and Hat Tournament form to the meeting along with the small fee to compete. The cost
will be $5 per person or $10 for 3 people that baggage together. This will cover the cost of the hat
tournament including pizza dinner at 5pm and extra funds will go towards the club's yearly expenses.
Format
Teams will be announced Friday by email and you will be requested to wear your team's color to the fields.
Each team will consist of new members, returning members, and 3 veterans as team "captains". These captains
will be monitoring players throughout the day and will report back to the team’s Coach and Captains. The
first hour and a half of the day will consist of warm-ups, throwing, and teaching of basic offense/defense/rules.
From there, teams will compete in a round robin playing 4-5 games. Every player regardless of skill level
will receive equal playing time during these games. At the end of competition all players are encouraged to
stay and socialize over pizza.
Skill reports from each team's captains will be used to select the first 35 players for the A team. No
players will be cut; we are only using tryouts to divide original players between A and B teams. Players do
not need to attend the "tryouts" to make the team, but they must be there to place onto the first cut of A team.
The A and B team roster will be monitored throughout the fall semester and players may be moved up or down
accordingly.
What to Bring
We will be playing on artificial turf fields so athletic shoes or cleats are recommended for playing. You may
also want to eat beforehand and bring a water bottle and snacks as we will be playing for around 6 hours. There
are two water fountains on location to refill water bottles.
If you have any further questions please attend the meeting on Wednesday August 26th or email:
Keith Stern (Coach) at KeithAStern@gmail.com
Jack Kelly (Captain) at jwk5145@psu.edu
Brian Nevison (Captain) at bln5023@psu.edu
See you on the field,

Practice for the Men's team will begin on Monday August 31st for the A team and September 1 for the B team.
More practice information will be released via email or messaging by our Facebook group. New players are ALWAYS

east of the outdoor pool). Mondays and Wednesdays will be for the A team and Tuesdays and Thursdays will be for the

during poor weather. Cleats are highly recommended for Ultimate Frisbee. If you do not own a pair you may purchase

State club sport and you will receive a 10% discount.
