Mission

Our goal at Penn State is to provide an environment for students to gather who want to grow in their walk with Christ. College is a hectic time in one's life, and important decisions are made every day. We want to provide an atmosphere where students can make safe choices and have fun at the same time. We don't think that drinking and partying is the only way to have fun at college. We hope that through the activities and events we do, we will be able to imitate Christ at Penn State and show others that there is so much more to life. We do this through service activities, our weekly gatherings, and by simply standing for Christ throughout the week. We focus on community so that we can stand strong together. With friends and peers who feel the same as you do, it is easier to make smarter choices. Overall, our number one goal is to provide a place where students can find friends, meet others who share their beliefs and goals and sometimes even people that will challenge them.

And one of the ways we as a group can imitate Christ is by being an example to others on this campus. It feels like groups are always fighting with one another. Whether it be among different religions or even within Christianity. It's important that as people of faith we make a stand and show our campus that groups of different ideologies can come together and have fun with one another. That's the goal of UCM, to bring people and groups together and focus on what we do have in common. Progress will never happen until someone makes the effort to connect with others. We hope that we can be that bridge for organizations on campus and for students who are interested in pursuing their faith on a deeper level.

Here's how the members of UCM view our group:

"We are a group of students developing a close-knit, Christ-centered community. We seek to foster meaningful friendships within the Penn State student body    and provide an open, comfortable environment for anyone interested in exploring questions of faith."

So now what?

UCM is currently transitioning from what it had been in the past to....whatever you want it to be!  We are currently trying to identify what UCM's niche on campus is, and where it needs to go in the future.  If you have interest in the group, or in a Christian group with focuses on peace and justice issues, please feel free to contact Brandn or one of the student leader (info on the Contact page).
