Self Defense Techniques
The descriptions posted here are to remind you of techniques learned in class only.
Do not attempt to learn new techniques from these descriptions.
Bear Hug From Behind
Technique 1

Headbutt to distract opponent

Step to the left, throw elbows up to
break hold

Reach between your legs and grab
opponent's ankle

Bracing opponent's knee on your right
thigh, life opponent's ankle to take them down

Right kick to opponent's face
Technique 2

Move left foot slightly to the left,
right knife hand to groin

Move right foot behind opponent
-
With right arm across opponent's chest,
turn hips to the right, throwing oppontnt down

Right kick to opponent's face
Technique 3

Right foot stomp

Grab opponent's top hand with your right
hand

With your left hand pushing up on
opponent's elbow, step backwards under opponent's arm until he/she is in front
of you

Left front kick to opponent's face

Push opponent away
Double Wrist Grabs
Technique 4

Right front kick to opponent's shin,
stepping in slightly

Move hands upward in praying motion to
break hold.

Double knife hand strikes to opponent's
collar bones

Double palm strikes to opponent's ears

Grab opponent's head, right knee strike
to opponent's head
Technique 5

Right knee to opponent's stomach,
landing in kima stance with your right foot between opponent's legs

Grab your right wrist with your left
hand, pulling it to the left to break the hold

Right elbow to opponent's mid-section

Right elbow to opponent's face
Technique 6

Step in, headbutting opponent

Rotate hands inward to grab opponent's
wrists

While holding opponent's wrists, bring
your right hand up, while moving your right foot to the left in front of your
left foot

Move your left foot back so you are
facing away from your opponent

Twist your body to the left into a deep
left front stance to throw opponent

Right knife hand strike to opponent's
neck
Two Opponents
Technique 7 - Opponents at either side,
holding your arms with both of their hands

Pull right arm in, side kick opponent on
right side, knocking him away

Turn left, front kick to opponent's
mid-section, right punch to face
-
Step-in hook kick to opponent on right
side
Technique 8 - Opponent 1 holding your arms
behind your back, while opponent 2 approaches

Right front kick to approaching
opponent's face

Right back kick to opponent 1's right
knee

Bring hands in large circular motion
above your head, moving right into deep kima stance

Grab opponent's right wrist with your
left hand
-
Twist left into front stance to toss
opponent

Strike to opponent's head
Technique 9 - Opponents at either side,
holding your arms with both of their hands
-
Right foot back into deep front stance,
snap arms back to distract opponents
-
Right foot forward into right front
stance throwing arms forward and then pulling them back to flip both opponents into forward rolls.
Advanced Self Defense Techniques are to be made up by the student, following the general outline of the above techniques.
Any defense against weapons may be demonstrated, but knife, gun, and stick are most commonly requested.
All techniques should neutralize the weapon threat through immobilization or disarmament, and include a finishing move and clean escape.
Up to 15 distinct techniques may be requested of you during testing.
