Activities Committee

Co-chairs: Matt Lesniewski mjl5140@psu.edu
Evan Smith ebs5017@psu.edu

The activities committee is responsible for organizing all the fun things Thespians likes to do together outside of putting on great shows. Activities done in the past include Frisbee, hay rides, ice skating, bowling, board game nights, basketball, touch football, going to see No Refund Theatre shows, and trips to New York City.

The activities committee is always looking for and taking suggestions for great new things for Thespians to try!

Our responsibility as a committee is to inject as much awesomeness into the off-stage doings of the club as we possibly can. We plan and host a number of varied activities, and are always looking for more help/suggestions. If you want to join this committee, or just have a cool idea that you'd like to see happen, get in touch with either myself or Evan and we'll make it happen!

List Thespians experience: Cast member: Assassins, Once Upon a Mattress, and Sweeney Todd; Director of MasquerAIDS 2009; Children's Show Spring 2009 (Shark); Marketing committee, Web, activities, and THON

Favorite Thespians moment: It's so hard to choose one moment from the past two years and call it my favorite, but it may be a tie between the Assassins cast party (Fall' 07) and dominating NRT in frisbee (Fall '08). The cast party for Assassins always sticks out because my big, Alicia DiPompeo (who is significantly lighter and shorter than me) carried me from the party back to my dorm (this was over a mile walk). The NRT game speaks for itself. We beat them 14-6 despite spending the last twenty minutes trying to throw a touchdown pass to Sabrina. Go us!

Activities committee is all about coming up with, planning for and participating in all kinds of events.  We do sports-related activities, with our almost daily frisbee game and many nights of basketball.  We support other local theatre by going to see shows together and arranging car pools.  We go on a New York trip each spring...to see great Broadway shows!!  We do a hayride each fall.  We plan movie nights, game nights, dry and not dry activities, and the best part is, we're always open to new ideas so if you have any, just let us know!!

List Thespians experience: "Narrator" in Lyle, Lyle Crocodile (Spring 2007), Build/Paint Crew for Assassins (Fall 2007), "Mr. Brown" in Paddington Bear (Fall 2007), Run Crew for Jekyll and Hyde (Spring 2008), Director of The Lorax (Spring 2008), Marketing Co-Chair (2008-2009), "Boss" in Amelia Bedelia, Secretary (2009-2010).

Favorite Thespians moment: "(Serious) Working with Alicia and the rest of our fabulous Marketing Committee to have an 18.2% attandence increase for our 2008 fall show (Once Upon a Mattress). (Funny) Coming up with the most ridiculously random ad-libs with Steve Levine in our scene in Amelia Bedelia. Between hot sauce, DIET Coke, fake deliciousness sounds and random one-liners mocking our fellow cast-members (Alex Jones), it was always interesting, funny, and Sabrina (our Director) probably hates us until this day."
