From Left to Right: The Ensemble of Jekyll and Hyde face off in "Facade". Aaron Nogan and Alex Jones make a blood pact in Blood Brothers. Adam Sagot plays John Wilkes Booth in Assassins.
With the Penn State Thespian 2007-2008 season finished, members look back on the dark topics each show tackled.
The Boal Barn show Blood Brothers was a violent retelling of the prince and the pauper. Two brothers, separated at birth, find each other and become friends. Being from two different social classes, the brothers have to face the hardships of life and the love of one girl.
Assassins was performed during the fall semester and showcased the many lives of presidential assassins. With the musical stylings of Stephen Sondheim, the show created a dark and eerie atmosphere. The small ensemble cast made the show very personal and really re-created the mind of the assassin.
The musical adaptation of the world renowned novel Jekyll and Hyde hit the Schwab stage in the spring. The show consisted of a large cast telling the story of a tortured man, torn between good and evil. The stage consisted of a stationary set which was utilized to create the many places Jekyll/Hyde visited throughout his story.
Founded in 1897 by Dr. Fred Lewis Pattee and Dr. John H. Leete, The Penn State Thespians is the oldest continual student organization on campus. Our mission is to provide students with educational experience in all aspects of dramatic production and present theatrical entertainment to the surrounding community. Every aspect of production is staffed almost entirely by students.
The organization also contributes to the community through various service activities including the IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon and the club-originated MasquerAIDS benefit.
Membership in The Penn State Thespians is based on diverse participation in two or more Thespians productions. For more information on becoming a part of this spirited organization call us at (814) 865-9461 or explore the rest of our web site.
