TASA is here offering the opportunity for everyone to gather around and watch the hottest movie of this summer, "Cape NO.7"! Since the movie doesn not contain English subtitle, it requires some basic knowledge of the Chinese language in order to comprehend the moive itself.

Dear friends, Penn State is going to play against Michigan this week!! It wil kick off at 4:30pm! We've got some exhilarating news this week: According to the USA Today, Penn state moved up three spots in the Associated Press Poll to No3, the same position in both the USA today coaches poll and the Harries poll. This homecoming game is going to be extremely exciting! So get ready to cheer up for penn state!
If you are interested in doing the football stand, the following is the information about the football stand:
When: Saturday, 10/18, 11am-7pm
Where: Outside of Beaver Stadium
Shifts:
1. Opening: 11am-1pm. You will receive 3 hours of working credit.
(Maximum 8 people)
2. Normal Shift: 1pm-3pm. You will receive 2 hours of working credit.
(Maximum 10 people)
3. Normal Shift: 3pm-5pm. You will receive 2 hours of working credit.
(Maximum 10 people)
4. Wrap Up: 5pm-7pm. You will receive 3 hours of working credit.
(Maximum 8 people)
The working credits will be the reference when it comes to giving out the limited free tickets. The more hours you have done the more likely you will get the tickets to the games you want. You can sign up for more than one shift.
Remeber you can request the tickets if you want to see the game when you sign up. However, it depends on how many hours you work for the football stand. I will send out the final list on Sunday and also a list shows who gets the limited tickets!

We will send out a final notification on Thursday night to remind you of the dodge ball event that TASA will be holding on this coming Saturday, please check your email frequently to make sure you are always on the track!

Dodge Ball Game:
Date: Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008
Time: 1pm-5pm
Place: IM Building, Gym 3
The purpose of the event is simply made for our TASA members to gather around and physically engage in some fun activities with each and other, there is no need to sign up for the activity, we welcome everyone to come out and have fun with us.
It is likely that we will be having a Dodge Ball Tournament with the HK Student Association in the mid-November, so just to give you a head start; it would be a great chance for us to warm up before the real battle kicks off!

Moon Festival party is the membership fee・s deadline for people who want to join in TASA. Again, membership fee for a year is $ 20 and a semester is $15.
More importantly, please send your photo, head picture preferred, to our Treasurer Jenny Wang at wvw5010@psu.edu before September 13th, which is the Moon Festival party.
We can also take a photo for you in the Moon Festival party, but the skill is not guaranteed. People who hand in the membership fee and the photo LATE, we will NOT GUARANTEE to have your membership cards on time as others.

Spring Festival will be on Sunday, April 20, 6:00 PM at the HUB. You can buy door tickets for $7.00.

Here's some information about banquet:
DRESS CODE IS FORMAL This means that girls will be wearing banquet/cocktail dresses and guys will be wearing suits+ties. Go to the TASA website for more ideas: Gallery
If you are going and you need a ride, you need to contact Zoe at yxh5017@psu.edu or 814-441-0118, otherwise you'd have to ride the Toftrees bus by yourself.
Fees are $15 for TASA members; $25 for non-members. There will be no refund; if you cannot make it that day, you can find a substitute.

Hey everyone, another week has gone by...I hope your week went well! Here are some finalized plans of TASA's last few events for this semester!
Saturday, April 12th, 2008--TASA's First Annual Karaoke Competition @ West Cultural Lounge, from 9 PM to 12AM. Drop by any time, but if you want to compete, please be there from the start! The three best singers will be awarded with a special little something!
Sunday, April 20th, 2008-- Spring Festival 2008 in the HUB Alumni Hall, from 5 PM to 9 PM. Spring Festival highlights the rich cultural heritage and national identity of the international students at Penn State where we have different kinds of food, dancing and performances! We have 18 groups on campus participating in this event this year! Tickets will be on sale on April 3rd, 4th and 7th at the HUB tables: $7 for PSU students and $10 for non-PSU students. TASA still has a few extra tickets, so if you're interested, contact Ying at yuh124@psu.edu.
Saturday, April 26, 2008-- TASA Banquet! This event, held at Toftrees Grand Buffet, is a celebration of the end of the school year and also a senior send-off. If you are graduating this semester and attending banquet, please let Zoe (yxh5017@psu.edu) know ASAP so she can reserve a spot for you. The original cost of the buffet is $35 each, but we are only charging TASA members $15! Non-members will be charged $25, but that is still $10 less than the original price! So bring a friend with you!
There is limited seating, so we might not be able to accomodate everyone--be sure to secure your spot by signing up with Zoe at yxh5017@psu.edu before April 18. The dress code is formal, which means that guys will be wearing suits+ties, and girls will don on their cocktail dresses. We will also be electing next year's officers at the banquet. Thanks for coming to the Chinese New Year Festival! Hope you enjoyed it! The next social event is here! This time we are going to ICE SKATING! It's on Saturday, February 16th around 8p.m. to 10 p.m. at Penn State Ice Rink.
Fees are $4 (TASA will cover the skate fee for members, but PLEASE BRING YOUR PSU ID) TASA will also provide refreshments! This is an open event; you are welcome to bring your friends outside of the club! Hope to see you there!

Hey everyone, hope your first week of school went well! We are having a TASA Welcome Back meeting this Wednesday, January 23, 5:30 PM at Thomas. We will meet in front of Thomas (the doors facing the grassy area) and then go in together.
Refreshments will be provided as we discuss about our upcoming Chinese New Year's Dinner on February 3, 2008. We will also be selling tickets for the event ($10) at the meeting, so don't forget to bring some change with you! Let's get excited for welcoming the year of the rat!

Hi TASA members and friends, welcome back to Happy Valley! Hope you all had a wonderful break! One of TASA's biggest event of the year is approaching: CHINESE NEW YEARS FESTIVAL host by TSA and TASA!
It's on Sunday, Feb. 3rd. at HUB Alumni Hall. Door opens at 6pm. $10 for student and $15 for non-student. Tickets on sale in the HUB starting next Tuesday every weekday 11am-5:30. We are going to have delicious dinner buffet and awesome performances throughout the night! A lot of our members put a lot efforts in it and are going to perform at the event, so come out!
Also, one of the fraternities Lambda is having a welcome back party today, 1/19. It starts at 10pm at Candy Bar and Lounge, 129 S. Pugh St. 18 to enter and 21 to drink. $5 for girls and $7 for guys. Come and have a good time!

In the meeting we will be discussing about some impending events like Halloween party, Thanksgiving dinner, and other future gatherings. As you all know, 10/10 is the National Day of Republic of China, aka Double Tens Day. It will be great if we can all wear the TASA t-shirt (the one with Taiwan on the back) or something that represents Taiwan/R.O.C in school. It・s not mandatory, but it will be fun if we do together!

The long anticipated 2007 TASA Moon Festival Celebration and Welcome Party is finally around the corner! Come out on Saturday, 9/22, for an afternoon of fun, fellowship, and food at HomesteadPark (located at 145 Farmstead Ln)!
The event starts at 12:00. If you need a ride to get there, pick-ups are in front of the Osmond fountain at 11:15. Good news: if you・re already a TASA member, you can go to the event for free! However, non-members need not to fret, for you can sign up and pay a small fee of $15 to become a member at the party. If you・re still not sure if you want to become a member but would like to attend the event, you can pay $5 for the party and join in on the fun!
