The Penn State Student United Way (PSU
SUW) is a student-run branch of the Centre County United Way. We are a
group of student volunteers devoted to lending our Time and
Talent for the benefit of our surrounding community. Additionally, we
work closely with Centre County United Way to provide continuing
support for its 40 partner
agencies. Through our efforts, we hope to encourage other students to
become both active members of our club and volunteers within their own community.
Ultimately, our goal is to inspire our members to continue giving and volunteering beyond their careers at Penn State.

The Student United Way was
founded as a student branch of the Centre County United
Way at The
Pennsylvania State University in 2002. Until 2007,
PSU SUW was the only student-run organization for any United Way within
the United States. Our club has grown considerably from its outset,
and now it is serving as a model for students across the
nation as they create their own
Student
United Way organizations.
The Student United Way at the Pennsylvania
State University, University Park Campus, serves the local community by:
1. educating our members, other student
organizations, and the Penn State student body about Centre County
United Way and its benefiting agencies
2. raising funds for health and human service
initiatives in Centre County,
3. working together with student organizations to
lead similar fundraising efforts.
We are students committed to leadership through service and teamwork. The Student United Way hopes to increase student involvement in the betterment of our Centre County community.
