WHAT IS THE STUDENT UNITED WAY?

Student United Way is the student branch of the United Way. SUW was founded at Penn State University in 2002, and is currently the only student run organization for the United Way in America. We work with the local Centre County United Way to assist agencies in the local community.

As students, our goal is to help raise money and awareness for the 37 Centre County agencies. The Student United Way at Penn State, University Park is comprised of students who are committed to: service, teamwork, and leadership.

SUW meets biweekly for general meetings. To assist these agencies, members help student organizations become aware of the needs of the community and then facilitate the implementation of fundraisers to generate funds which are distributed by the United Way. Through outreach with other student organizations, we hope to encourage other students to help in our community and increase the funding and help that these agencies receive through fundraising and volunteer work.
