Kevin McMahon (1989-1990)

In the spring semester of 1989, Dreamers Director Kevin McMahon formed a small six man doo wop group from the membership of the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha. They formed the group to perform on a Chapter Day recital and to sing one gig at Baby's downtown. The Dreamers, who at the time were just known as the "50's doo wop singers," sang two songs at Baby's, "In The Still of the Night" and "At the Hop." Kevin told the fledgling group, "No committments, guys. One gig and that's it."

Lou Persic (1990-1991)

The Dreamers began performing at countless classrooms, dorms, and homes ever since February 1990. "Instruments Not Included," the Dreamers first album was released.

Pat Cotter (1992-1994)

The Dreamers began singing downtown after football games and football Sundays at the Student Book Store. The group has continued this tradition to current day.

Thomas West (1994 - 1997)

The Dreamers second album "It's Still Rock N' Roll" is released. Tom begins Spring Break tours, reaching thousands of young musicians in schools all over the Northeast United States. The Dreamers also sang on Old Main Lawn for President Bush's visit to Penn State. Performances at THON also began under Tom's directorship.

Jordan Ullman (1997)

Under Jordan, the Dreamers made the first huge step into the realm of current a cappella music. Breakthrough songs such as New-Age Girl, Jesse's Girl, and the Hannukah Song were brought onto the scene.

Mike Carey (1998)

The Dreamers continued to focus on current a cappella music under Mike. The Dreamers made a number of road trips to neighboring universities this semester. Colleges such as Binghamton and Muhlenberg hosted the Dreamers for concerts

Shawn Pearce (1998)

This was truly a semester for the Dreamers to shine. Shawn took the Dreamers to their first appearance in NCCA's (National Championship of Collegiate A Cappella). The group advanced to Regionals this year and hosted the Championships here at Penn State while holding the Phi Mu Alpha/CASA 1998
A CAPPELLA FEST

Jamie Howe (1998 - 1999)

Jamie has brought the Dreamers to new heights during his directorship. The Dreamers newest CD is currently being recorded, and the arrangements are the best ever. The group celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year (1999) and plans for a huge reunion and concert. The Dreamers also broke records on Singing Valentines this year.

Dreamers of AZ sing at Phi Mu Alpha National Convention with Dreamers Founder Kevin McMahon

With the goal of sparking interest in other chapters, Dreamers Founder Kevin McMahon and a small group of current AZ Dreamers members sang at a clinic held at the 2006 Phi Mu Alpha National Convention.  McMahon and the group shared information about how the group was formed, the group's fundraising potential, Singing Valentines, Spring Tour, and how to start up a group, create arrangements, and manage gigs.

McMahon hopes that The Dreamers will become a national standard in Phi Mu Alpha with many groups throughout the country.
