As
we enter the New Year, a lot of us make New Year's Resolutions
that we don't keep. I know many people who said
they were going to stop smoking. It's been at least 3
years and they are still puffing on Newports. And there
are many out there that I know that said they would stop
cursing or drinking as their New Year's Resolution, and the
next day they forgot the promise that they made.
Along with New Year's resolutions, we make a lot of promises
to God that we do not keep. "Lord I promise to read
my Word everyday," or "I promise to get up every
morning at 5am to pray." (I'm guilty of a couple
more). But the Bible tells us not to make rash promises
to God and for our words to be few. If we do promise
something we are |

to
keep it, but it's better to say nothing than to promise
something that you don't follow through on, because your mouth
would make you sin. Eccl.
5:1-6.
We all have sins and habits of our past that we'd like for
others to forget. We want God to forget our
sins/skeletons, too. The good news is that His
forgetfulness is only a prayer away. God offers
forgiveness to the believer, and even more. The Bible
tells us that when God forgives He cannot remember the sin.
What we sometimes forget is to let God help us deal with our
problems and bad habits. Giving it over to God is to
forget about it, and to continue pressing on with your
intimate relationship. He will change your desire and
help you to |

squash
that bad habit. God will not only forgets our past, He
also insures our future. Today remember that He has
changed your life and made it new. You can meet any
obstacle the day might bring.
Don't you just love being around people who overlook the wrong
you've done them? Treat others in the same manner
today. You'll not always find it easy, but you'll always
find it right. It's the godly response to a needy
world. It's good news.
