Barbara Munin is absolutely thrilled to be this year's SHC Student Council President! She is a junior pursuing a degree in Geography with a focus in nature-society geography. Barbara has been involved with student council since her freshman year, and she is so excited to see what this year will bring. Outside of SHC Student Council, Barbara is a bookworm, a musical enthusiast, and a PSU Football fanatic. In her free time, you can find Barbara feeding her caffeine addiction around State College with good friends.
Vice President- Danelle Weakland
Danelle is a junior majoring in biology with an option in vertebrate physiology. She is planning to attend medical school after finishing her degree at Penn State. Danelle was last year's Recruitment Chair, and she is extremely excited to start another year of StuCo as the Vice President. She is originally from Cresson, Pennsylvania where she grew up in a home of all Nittany Lion fans. Aside from student council, Danelle works at the local hospital and in an on-campus research lab. If she is not studying in the library or doing something StuCo related, she can be found watching movies with friends, lounging on Old Main Lawn, or cheering for the Nittany Lions at a sporting event. She would like to welcome all of the new student council members, and looks forward to a great year at Penn State!
Secretary- Elizabeth YergerElizabeth Yerger is super pumped to be this year's Secretary! Liz is a sophomore studying Actuarial Science with a minor in Statistics. She loves food, knitting, football, the Kardashians, and pretends to love exercise. Although SHC Stuco will always be first in her heart, she is also involved with PHREE and the Sapphire Leadership Program. In her free time, she can be found reading or complaining about the walk to the Business Building.
Jenna Thomas is a junior majoring in Environmental Systems Engineering and minoring in Geography. She enjoys reading, travelling, and spending time outdoors. She loves everything Disney, and hopes to work as a Disney Imagineer one day! Aside from serving as treasurer for the SHC Student Council, Jenna is really involved with UNICEF, THON, and a research lab. She cannot wait to design some cool new merchandise this year and meet all the new Student Council members!
Recruitment Chair- Carli Liguori
Carli is entering into her Junior year and is more excited than ever to rejoin her Penn State family! She is a Nutritional Sciences major with a double minor in Dance and Horticulture. She is also a Lion Scout and gives weekly tours of campus to prospective students. She is looking forward to being the new Recruitment Chair for the upcoming school year and getting to know the incoming class!
Academic Chair- Salvatore Affinito
Salvatore Affinito is a junior majoring in Psychology with an emphasis on Business. He has been involved with Student Council since his freshman year, but will be serving as the Academic Chair this year. He works in two psychology research labs, but in his free time he loves to play sports, travel, learn new languages, and drink coffee!
Rachel Isaacs is really excited to be StuCo's social chair for the second year in a row! She is a senior majoring in food science from Pittsburgh. Rachel loves to Pinterest, bake, online shop, and go to concerts. She works in a sensory lab on campus where she administers taste tests to people. As a food scientist, she hopes to one day make healthy chocolate. Let Rachel know if you have any social ideas for the upcoming year!
Service Chair- Erica Mellinger
Erica Mellinger cannot wait to become this year's StuCo service chair! She is a sophomore double majoring in Immunology and Infectious Disease and Community, Environment, and Development: International Option. Besides planning StuCo's awesome service opportunities, Erica loves to run, drink lots of coffee, and watch tons of shows on Netflix.
THON Chair- Sharmila Sandirasegarane
Sharmila Sandirasegarane is so happy to be StuCo's THON Chair! She is a junior majoring in Biobehavioral Health, with hopes of going to medical school. This Hershey native is also involved in Biobehavioral Health Society, Mid-State Literacy Council and a research lab. She loves reading, going to fun workout classes at the White Building and traveling.
Somrit Basak is currently a senior studying Accounting in the Smeal College of Business and pursuing minors in Statistics and Psychology. He hopes to go to law school and practice corporate law in the future. Here on campus, Somrit is involved as the Schreyer Honors College UPUA Student Government Representative and as co-founder of PSU Food For Thought. He love traveling and has been to 28 countries. Mike is a freshman with an intended major in finance and economics. He is from Schwenksville, PA, a small town outside Philadelphia. In addition to being the Schreyer Delegate to UPUA, Michael is involved with the Penn State Investment Association and the Business Student Council. In his free time Mike is probably studying, hanging out with friends, or is at a Penn State football game. Mike is ready to represent you and your interests in UPUA.
Chelsea is pumped to be one of StuCo's Homecoming Co-Chairs this year! She is a senior marketing major in the Smeal college of business. Chelsea loves tailgating for Penn State football games and trying new food in downtown State College with friends! Born and raised in the Poconos, Chelsea is an outdoor fanatic and is down to hike, explore, or travel anytime!
Dayna Hedges is a sophomore majoring in architectural engineering originally from the small town of Clearfield, PA, just 45 minutes northwest of State College. She joined StuCo last year at the beginning of her freshman year and is excited to join the exec board this year as one of the homecoming co-chairs! On campus, she is also involved in Penn State's Theme Park Engineering Group, enjoys attending WEP Wednesday activities, and is a SHOTime mentor. There is a special place in her heart for both of Penn State's two seasons: football season and THON season. Dayna shares her sister's (a 2001 Penn State grad) love for Penn State football and wouldn't miss a game! She also fell in love with THON last year being a part of the THON org Atlas. In her free time, Dayna enjoys reading Nicholas Sparks novels, satisfying her unhealthy addiction to Lucky Charms, and spending time with friends. Dayna can't wait to start another amazing year at Penn State and lead the way pomping this year's StuCo homecoming float!
Stefani Pappas is thrilled to be StuCo's Public Relations Chair for this year! She is a junior majoring in Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. She is the Social Chair of Penn State's Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural Sorority, a member of the Student Nutrition Association, a Penn State Fitness Instructor, and a research assistant for the Penn State NEEDS Center. She is a fitness enthusiast, certified indoor cycling instructor, and loves to sing!
