Trinity Firebot

Congratulations to Andy Wilson, Dan Magagnosc, and Chris Berberich. Their robot, Rambler, competed in the Trinity Firebot Competiton on April 12 and 13. Rambler placed 3rd in the walking division and won the Versa Valve Challenge in the walking division.

New Sign in Procedure

Upcoming Events

Welcome back everybody! Here are a few upcoming events. Tomorrow, January 15, the club will be hosting a table at the Spring Involvement fair from 11am to 4pm. Next, on Wednesday, January 16, the club will be holding a meeting for returning members at 8pm. Finally, next Wednesday, January 23, the club will be hosting a spring open house at 8pm in 312 Hammond.

Club T-shirt Designs

This past week, club members were asked to submit designs for a club t-shirt. The designs are in and voting is open. Current members can vote by e-mailing their choice to Jeremy (jgb5034@psu.edu). The voting will be open until Friday, November 9. The designs can be seen here.

CTF Course Completed!

Over the past few weekends, several members of the club have worked to complete the CTF competition course. This past sunday,the course was completed. Thanks to all the members who helped construct the course. The course is now open for groups participating in the competition to practice.

Semester Update

With the semester well underway, the club is really getting going. There was a great turn out for the open house. Currently, new members are learning the basics of hardware and software. Returning members are all lending a helping hand.

Meetings are every Wednesday at 8:00pm. All are welcome to attend.

Robotics Club Open House

On Wednesday, September 5, the club will be hosting an open house. The open house will begin at 8:00pm in 312 Hammond. Pizza and drinks will be provided. All prospective members, as well as returning members, are invited to attend. The open house will provide attendees with a brief overview of the clubs plans for the coming year. We hope to see everyone there.

Returning Members Meeting

This Wednesday, August 28, there will be a meeting for all returning members. On the agenda is the years budget and an overview of the years events.

Returning members are also encouraged to stop by the robotics club table at the Fall Involvement Fair on Tuesday, August 28.

Fall Involvement Fair

As the the beginning of the Fall Term approaches, it is time to prepare for the new year. In an effort to recruit more members, the club will be hosting a table at the fall involvement fair on Tuesday, August 28. The involvement fair begins at 11:00am and ends at 4:00pm. All returning and new members are invited to stop by the booth.

Robotics Lecture

On Thursday, April 12, Dr. Ralph Hollis of The Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University will be giving a guest lecture here at Penn State. His lecture will address the use of magnetic levitation in touch sensing devices. Dr. Hollis will lecture on the history of these devices and the potential uses of these devices in the future.

All members are encouraged to attend the lecture. It will take place on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at 10:00am in 333 Information Sciences & Technology Building.

Mid Semester Update

With four weeks until the Abington Fire Bot 2007 competition, our teams are making a lot of progress. New members are learning quickly; more experienced members are bringing their projects together. The competition will be held on Saturday March 31, 2007.

Mini Grand is progressing well too. The power wheels is up and running and other structural aspects are near completion. Hopefully it will perform well at the competition this spring.

Meetings are still every Wednesday at 8:00pm in 312 Hammond.

haRoLd Wins, Happy New Year!

It has been a while since our last update, but the results are in. haRoLd won the "Most Points Scored" in the Colligate Solo Round at Penn State Abington's Robo-Hoops Competition. We will be adding some photos and more information as the new semester begins.

On to new business, we begin the new year and a new competition. Our site is being updated accordingly and will have updates as the semester progresses. We are having our official Open House on Wednesday the 24th at 8pm in 312 Hammond. Visit us to see what we have done, and what we are going to be starting this semester. The open house welcomes anyone who may be interested in joining and will be providing free food.

Additionally, we will try and have a table at the Spring Involvement Fair in Alumni Hall at the HUB on the 16th, yes the first day of class. Come check us out and see what is in store for this semester.
