On Friday, September 7 from 9:30 to 10:30 am, two protestors walked in front of Willard protesting nothing. I happened to pass these two. Just ordinary Joes, carrying blank signs and wearing blank faces. When badgered by the Collegian, they gave them "no comment." To me, this sounds suspiciously like a fraternity initiation. The former WPSU president, while pledging a frat, had to march in step with fellow pledges and say nothing to anybody unless it was related to school or busines. Because these "protestors" refused to give their names, the reporter decided to investigate. My guess is, he returned to the Collegian office, where he told the others about his scoop. Thinking it sounded like the "Save the Hole" demonstration, someone told him to call us. And of course, we had nothing to say! The practice is common in major newspapers. Imagine a new subway bombing in London. Who do you call? "The IRA, known for such terrorist actions, denied any responsibility for the protest." But in the end, the public's suspicions are aroused simply by the suggestion of a connection. And we, the Monty Python Society, get credit for a non-protest we didn't stage. Beauty.
