2008 Icers Hall Of Fame Inductees
Maxine Schollenberger
Maxine has been a member of the Icers’ Booster Club for 10 years. During that time, she has held numerous positions within the organization including Vice President and President – a position she has held since 1999. Aside from being a regular at every home game, this inductee has contributed to the Icers’ success in founding the Fundraising Committee for the club and maintaining communication with alumni and other Booster Club members. She received the Booster Club’s Service award in 1999 and was recognized in 2001 with the Vance McCullough Award of Excellence. She currently resided in Boalsburg with her husband, Jim.
James Graulty - Player (1971-1973)
James Graulty was a member of the Icers squad that brought hockey back to Penn State back in November of 1971. After two years at the McKeesport campus, James transferred to the main campus and played two seasons as a right-winger for the Icers in which he tallied 13 goals, 13 assists in 40 career games. During this time, the team had no financial support in the way of equipment and relied on used equipment provided to them by the Pittsburgh Penguins, which he used to pick up on a regular basis. Aside from being part of the inaugural Icers team in 1971, this inductee and his brothers were among the first participants in the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League Pee Wee hockey program which marked the beginning of youth hockey in the Pittsburgh area. He currently resides in Pittsburgh with wife, Kathy.
C.J. Patrick – Player (1995-1999)
C.J. was the first of several from his family to attend Penn State and play for the Icers. During his career, which spanned from 1995 to 1999, he amassed 37 goals and 45 assists. However, it was his commitment to defense and penalty killing that made him one of the best defensive forwards in Icers’ history. His leadership on and off the ice was underlined by being team captain his junior and senior seasons. Through his career, he garnered many accolades including the Cecil and Trudy Smith Improvement Award, the Tammy Smith Unsung Hero Award, Nittany Lion Invitational All-Tournament Team, and ACHA Academic All-American in 1999. He was also part of the 1998 Icers Squad that defeated Ohio to win the ACHA Championship and begin the stretch of ten-consecutive trips to the Championship Game for the Icers. He and his wife, Bridget, currently live in Chestwick, Pennsylvania.
Mike Pietrangelo - Player (1994-1998)
“P-Train” played for the Icers from 1994 to 1998 and was one-half of the “Twin Towers” with Tom Westfall. He was a tremendous, two-way player and played in 134 games in which he garnered 74 goals and 104 assists. One of those goals was a five-on-three shorthanded goal against rival Michigan-Dearborn at home – a feat that has yet to be repeated in Icers’ history. He received the Romish Bhatt Award in 1994 and was named to the Nittany Lion Invitational All-Tournament Team in 1995. However, it was his senior season that highlighted his Icer career – a season in which he was named an ACHA First Team All-American and Team MVP. His was leading scoring in the ACHA National Tournament which saw the Icers defeat Ohio in the Championship Game and was named Tournament MVP. He currently lives in Philadelphia with his wife, Merri and their daughter, Gianna.
