Penn State Classic Tournament - Rules
- DATE
& LOCATION
Tournament will be held on November 21st and 22nd, 2009, at Bellefonte
Lanes, 893 Benner Pike, Bellefonte, PA, 16823, (814) 355-4641.
- ELIGIBILITY
- Each
team's entry form must specify an accredited college at the
school represented by the team.
- All
participants must be eligible under USBC Collegiate Bowling rules
400-USBC and 206-USBC Amateur Eligibility policies 1 through 3.
All participating teams must file eligibility for all team members
with USBC.
- USBC Rule 403-Collegiate
Eligible teams participating in USBC Collegiate certified team competitions
may have up to an eight player roster.
- USBC Rule 404-Collegiate
Three substitutions are permitted per regular team game and each Baker system game.
A student-athlete once removed from competition cannot return to bowl for the
remainder of the regular team game or Baker system game.
- Mixed
team entries will be accepted, subject to USBC-Rule 402-Collegiate and will be placed
in the Men's Team Division.
Women bowling in the Men's Team Division will be competing for
the Men's Team Division Awards.
- A
single participant may compete on one and only one team.

All Women's Teams will bowl on the "B" Squad. They will be bowling against each other.
- ENTRY
FEE
Entry fee is $230.00 per team. Entry fee breakdown - Awards
($105.00), Lineage ($90.00), and Expenses ($35.00). All
award fees are returned 100% to bowlers in the form of tournament
awards. If paying on the day of the tournament, only an
official school check, money order, or cash will be accepted.
Reserved places in the tournament, will be made on a first-come
first-serve basis by mail or online entry.
- ENTRY
DEADLINE
- Entry
deadline is November 1st, 2008.
- A
team which finished in the top third of the standings in last
year's tournament is guaranteed a spot in this year's tournament
if their entry is postmarked by November 5th, 2009.
- Each
School can bring (2) two teams per division.
You may use the entry form on our web site or e-mail Cindy Kane your team
roster in advance but we must have a check from your program to reserve
your spot by the November 11th. We will do our best to keep a list of
reserved spots on our website to keep you up to date on your status
and give you an idea of the field size and competition. Following the
deadline of November 11, 2009, if there are any available spots open,
additional teams on the waiting list may be entered into the tournament,
over the initial 2 teams per division, but only on a first come,
first served basis.
- CERTIFIED
This tournament will be certifified by USBC as
an intercollegiate event. All participants must be USBC
members and all schools represented must be USBC registered.
- REGISTRATION
- This
is a two-day tournament. Competition will be held on the
21st and 22nd of November, 2009.
- Check-in
deadlines:
Squad A teams - 7:30am Saturday
Squad B teams - 4:15pm Saturday
Squad A teams - 8:00am Sunday
Squad B teams - 12:30pm Sunday
- Awards
will be held at 3:45pm
- Each
team in each squad will receive a 15 minute practice session
(starting pair) at both start of Saturday and Sunday.
- A
team representative or coach must be designated for each team.
The representative is responsible for the conduct and attendance
of his/her team at the tournament site.
- FORMAT
The format will consist of Six (6) team games on Saturday, and
Sixteen (16) baker games on Sunday.
- TIES
- In
case of a tie in team standings for a scholarship, the scholarship
prize will be evenly divided, and duplicate plaques.
- In
case of a tie for an individual award, duplicate plaques will
be awarded.
- PROTESTS
Scoring protests must be filed with the tournament office within
20 minutes of the conclusion of the game to which the protest
applies. Team captains must sign their teams' recap sheets
at the conclusion of each of a series of 3 team games and the
conclusion of each of the two baker games. All signed recap
sheets will be considered official. In any dispute, the
decision of the tournament management shall be final unless an
appeal is made in accordance with USBC rule 329.
- AWARD
RESTRICTIONS
- No
tournament awards are transferable. All scholarship awards
are made to the college represented by the team for use as bowling
scholarships.
- If
a team fails to show for any game they are scheduled to bowl,
that team forfeits all awards won in this tournament.
- PRIZE FUND
- Prize fund will
be awarded in the ratio of at least one (1) in ten (10) teams.
- EJECTION
The tournament management reserves the right to eject from the
tournament and/or refuse entry into the tournament in future years
any team which, in the tournament management's judgment, exhibits
improper an unacceptable behavior at the tournament site, at an
official tournament hotel, or in dealings with any other agency
with whom the tournament management has negotiated special arrangements
for tournament participants.
- DRESS
CODE
Team uniforms are strongly preferred. No tank tops,
frayed-bottom jeans, or articles with objectionable text or images.
Hats, scarves or other similar articles of headwear will not be
permitted. All Dress Code violations will be enforced.
Team shirts - Each student-athlete should wear shirts that are identical in style, color
print and design. All shirts must have a collar and sleves, similar to golf or polo shirts.
Mock turtlenecks with a one-inch collar are acceptable.

- SCHOLARSHIP
DECLARATION FORMS
Must be filled out by All NCAA teams, before they can bowl. We
also ask that their Compliance Director/Co-ordinator/Administrator
sign the form too. Scholarship Verification Form
- OTHERS
- Alcoholic
beverages and smoking are strictly prohibited during tournament
competition.
- In
the case of any unforeseen circumstances arising not covered
by these rules, the tournament management has the authority
to adopt a rule to cover such a circumstance.
