Nittany Lion Kegler Classic Tournament - Rules



  1. DATE & LOCATION
    Tournament will be held on
    December 29th and 30th, 2009,
    at Laurel Lanes, 2825 RTE 73 S, Maple Shade, NJ. 08052

  2. ELIGIBILITY
    1. Each team's entry form must specify an accredited college at the school represented by the team.
    2. All participants must be eligible under USBC Collegiate Bowling rules 400-USBC and USBC Amateur Eligibility policies 1 through 8.  All participating teams must file eligibility for all team members with USBC.
    3. A college may be represented by more than one team in this tournament. A team consists of eight (8) bowlers. Only three (3) substitution may be made per regular game and each Baker system game. The starting player once removed from competition cannot return to bowl for the remainder of the regular team game or Baker system game.
    4. Mixed team entries will be accepted, subject to USBC Amateur Eligibility policy 10; and will be placed in the Men's Team Division.  Women bowling in the Men's Team Division will be competing for the Men's Team Division Awards.
    5. A single participant may compete on one and only one team.
  3. ENTRY FEE
    Entry fee is $250.00 per team.  Entry fee breakdown - Awards ($107.50), Lineage ($112.50), and Expenses ($30.00).  All award fees are returned 100% to bowlers in the form of tournament awards.  If paying on the day of the tournament, only an official school check, money order, or cash will be accepted.  Reserved places in the tournament, will be made on a first-come first-serve basis by mail or online entry.
  4. ENTRY DEADLINE
    1. Entry deadline is December 12th, 2009.
    2. A team which finished in the top third of the standings in last year's tournament is guaranteed a spot in this year's tournament if their entry is postmarked by December 12th, 2009.
    3. Each School can bring (1) one teams per division. Since it is a Tier I Tournament. If there is room the second teams will put in by first come first serviced. After the entry deadline of December 12th we will notify each coach if space exist for additional teams. We have been given up to 64 lanes so we should be able to allow some second teams. You may use the entry form on our web site or e-mail Cindy Kane your team roster in advance but we must have a check from your program to reserve your spot by the December 12th. We will do our best to keep a list of reserved spots on our website to keep you up to date on your status and give you an idea of the field size and competition. Following the deadline of December 12, 2009, if there are any available spots open, additional teams on the waiting list may be entered into the tournament, over the initial 1 teams per division, but only on a first come, first served basis.
  5. CERTIFIED
    This tournament will be certifified by USBC as an intercollegiate event.  All participants must be USBC members and all schools represented must be USBC registered.
  6. REGISTRATION
    1. This is a two-day tournament.  Competition will be held on the 29th and 30th of December, 2009.
    2. Check-in deadlines:
      8:00AM Tuesday
      8:00AM Wednesday
    3. Awards will be held at 1:30pm
    4. Each team will receive a 15 minute practice session at start of Tuesday and Wednesday.
    5. A team representative or coach must be designated for each team.  The representative is responsible for the conduct and attendance of his/her team at the tournament site.
  7. FORMAT
    The format will consist of Six (6) team games on Tuesday, and Sixteen (16) Baker games on Wednesday.
  8. TIES
    1. In case of a tie in a team division standings, a one-game Baker system roll-off will be held to determine the team championship.
    2. In case of a tie for an individual award, duplicate plaques will be awarded.
  9. PROTESTS
    Scoring protests must be filed with the tournament office within 20 minutes of the conclusion of the game to which the protest applies.  Team captains must sign their teams' recap sheets at the conclusion of each of a series of 3 team games.   All signed recap sheets will be considered official.  In any dispute, the decision of the tournament management shall be final unless an appeal is made in accordance with USBC rule 329.
  10. AWARD RESTRICTIONS
    1. No tournament awards are transferable.  All scholarship awards are made to the college represented by the team for use as bowling scholarships.
    2. An Individual can only win one award High Average comes first then High Series for this tournament. The awards will be a trophy.
    3. If a team fails to show for any game they are scheduled to bowl, that team forfeits all awards won in this tournament.
  11. PRIZE FUND
    1. Prize fund will be awarded in the ratio of at least one (1) in ten (10) teams.
  12. EJECTION
    The tournament management reserves the right to eject from the tournament and/or refuse entry into the tournament in future years any team which, in the tournament management's judgment, exhibits improper an unacceptable behavior at the tournament site, at an official tournament hotel, or in dealings with any other agency with whom the tournament management has negotiated special arrangements for tournament participants.
  13. DRESS CODE
    Team uniforms are required. No tank tops, frayed-bottom jeans, or articles with objectionable text or images. Hats, scarves or other similar articles of headwear will not be permitted. Mock turtlenecks with a one-inch collar are acceptable. All Dress Code violations will be enforced.
  14. SCHOLARSHIP DECLARATION FORMS
    Must be filled out by All NCAA teams, before they can bowl. We also ask that their Compliance Director/Co-ordinator/Administrator sign the form too. Scholarship Verification Form
  15. BOWLING BALL LIMIT
    In accordance with USBC Collegiate Bowling Tier 1 rules there will be a five (5) bowling ball limit per student-athlete.
  16. OTHERS
    1. Alcoholic beverages and smoking are strictly prohibited during tournament competition.
    2. In the case of any unforeseen circumstances arising not covered by these rules, the tournament management has the authority to adopt a rule to cover such a circumstance.
