1. El Dia De Los Muertos (MASA)

The Mexican American Student Association is having a display. This display will be in the HUB from around noon to about 5pm. They will be setting up a shrine to honor the dead and the past. They will be honoring specific family members and others held dear. They invite you to do the same. It will be a good chance for those interested, to learn about Mexican Culture. I invite you to get involved!
2. Managing Across Cultures (SHPE)

This illuminating presentation brings to light the differences in leadership, communication and conflict styles across cultures and how these differences can cause misperceptions, misinterpretations leading to misunderstanding in the workplace. It addresses the common wrong to deal with the differences and provide skills to effectively deal with the differences to prevent misunderstanding. This presentation is excellent in identifying the hidden diversity we bring to the work environment.
• Develop cross-cultural management and communication skills
• Recognize differences in values across cultures
• Distinguish the six patterns of nonverbal communication
• Recognize incorrect ways to deal with these differences.

5.The Nation in the Diaspora: The Multiple Repercussions of Puerto Rican Migration (L.S. dept.)

Dr. Jorge Duany is Professor of Anthropology and Chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. During the spring semester of 2007, he was the Bacardí Family Eminent Scholar in Latin American Studies at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He previously served as Director of the journal Revista de Ciencias Sociales, as Visiting Professor of Anthropology and American Studies at the University of Michigan, and as Assistant Director of the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Florida. His last book is titled The Puerto Rican Nation on the Move: Identities on the Island and in the United States (2002). He is the coauthor of Puerto Ricans in Orlando and Central Florida (2006), Cubans in Puerto Rico: Ethnic Economy and Cultural Identity (1997), and El Barrio Gandul: Economía subterránea y migración indocumentada en Puerto Rico (1995).There will be a reception following the talk at Cafe Laura (from 4 to 6 p.m.). All are welcome.

Tickets will be $5 ($4 for Latino Caucus members who have payed their dues)
