What kind of organization is Phi Beta Lambda?
We are a co-ed professional business fraternity.

What is Rush?
Fraternity Rush is a time when the Fraternities seek and recruit new members to join. It is a time when students on campus have an opportunity to meet the brothers of the Fraternities and compare what each has to offer so that they may chose the best one for them to join. Rush does not cost you anything. All the Rush events and functions are free!

If I go through Rush, do I have to join a Fraternity?
No. Rush is a time to see what Fraternity life can offer you. Going to Rush events or signing up for Rush does not commit you to joining a Fraternity.

How long is the process?
The rush process is just a few events to get to know each other. After that, the pledge process begins. This process requires a semester-long commitment.

How much are dues?
Far less than you would expect from a fraternity. We are able to keep costs down while providing exceptional quality in our events because of exclusive partnerships and opportunities. In other words, don't let concerns about finances stop you from moving ahead. Just contact us and let us know how we can help you.

How much time do I have to spend with pledging? Will I have time for other activities?
As with any fraternity, pledging is a serious commitment. It is by no means impossible - all you need is good time management skills. We can help you learn these skills. Nevertheless, if you still have concerns that you might not have the time to give 100% to the pledge process, please email RushPBL@psu.edu and let us know.

Why join Phi Beta Lambda?
Members of our chapter consistently win state and national awards. We have an exceptional reputation for success. We get more accomplished than groups twice our size, and with good reason. We are committed to excellence in everything we do, and EVERY brother is a leader. We have a strong professional development program unlike any you have ever seen. Our alumni network genuinely cares about the best interests of our fraternity. When you join PBL, you aren't just getting a great resume-builder; you are joining a close-knit brotherhood that will be there for you, just like you are there for them. Most importantly, it's FUN!

But what do you DO?
In addition to getting involved with many social, philanthropic, and career development opportunities on campus and in the local community, we participate in state and national events that include leadership development programs, competitions, workshops, and retreats.

Are there opportunities for travel?
National events have recently been held in New York, Orlando, and Long Beach, CA. Our trips are a lot of fun and we make many lasting memories while traveling to new places.

Is Phi Beta Lambda only for business majors?
Absolutely not. EVERYONE needs business skills to get ahead in this world, no matter what your career path. Therefore, we are open to all majors.

Do I have to be a certain semester/class standing to pledge?
No. We do not restrict membership based on semester standing.

Is Phi Beta Lambda a single-sex fraternity?
NO! We do not discriminate based on your sex, gender, religion, sexual orientation, national ancestry, whether you are right-handed or left-handed, or anything else that makes you unique - we're a FAMILY. We owe our success to the caring, accepting environment that fosters growth through diversity and understanding. It's an idea that is shared by some of the most successful organizations in the world.

What is your national affiliation?
Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate division of the Future Business Leaders of America, the largest organization of its kind in the world. It is the most recognized name in student-led business organizations and is respected by some of the most influential groups out there, including the venerable American Management Association and the National Business Education Association.

How easy is it for someone to work their way up after the pledge process?
That depends on how involved you choose to be. Phi Beta Lambda is constantly encouraging its members to work for leadership positions not only within the fraternity but also within other organizations in their lives. Every brother is a leader in this fraternity. Being an active member means taking an active role in your fraternity's leadership and future.
