"Today's Friends, Tomorrow's Leaders, Forever in Service"

Throughout the year the Sisters of Omega Phi Alpha are busy helping those near and far. Friendship, Leadership, and service binds our sorority together. With a commitment to service, sisters are always looking for ways to aid those who are in need of their services. We frequently volunteer for organizations such as Second Mile, Alex's Lemonade Stand, and The Red Cross. In addition to this list we run our own events and fundraisers like our spaghetti dinner.  Here's a peak at the sisters in action.....

Second Mile is an activity held for kids that are a part of the Big Brother/ Big Sister program.  It allows Penn State student organizations to set up activity tables for the kids and their Big Brother, or Big Sister to do.  The activities ranges from making marshmallow spiders, to making Halloween masks.

Alex's Lemonade Stand was started by a young girl, named Alex Scott, in Philadelphia who was suffering from cancer.  She began by selling lemonade for only 50 cents per cup, and had the goal of reaching $1 million dollars to benefit cancer research.  Alex, unfortunately, passed away recently, but organizations continue to voluntarily set up the lemonade stands to continue to raise money for more cancer research in her honor.

We also host a spaghetti dinner.  Tickets are sold to any one that would like to enjoy good food, and good company, and the money goes to help kids with disabilities.  We get to spend time with the kids, and cook all the yummy food together. This past fall, the money benefited PSU Lifeline.

These are just a few examples of how we try to help the local community, and other organizations.  Many girls have also donate to other organizations, volunteer for events on campus and off campus, and volunteer in their home towns.
