4 folks entered Kooken Cave through the back entrance on a hot July Summer day. We proceeded rapidly down the drop and up to the first drop. After moving past that rapid progress was made towards Fools Pit.

2 cavers rappelled down to the bottom to replace the rope over the water traverse, while 2 cavers stayed up to re-rig the rebelay. This was accomplished quickly, and allowed some time to explore a lead off to the side of the rappell. The passage trends upward, but soon turns into a crawl, and then chokes with rock.

The ropes were rigged, and everyone climbed up and out. Shortly after that we were at the climb to the surface. As we climbed the tube we could hear the sounds of thunder and exited the cave to dark skies and wind. We changed clothes quickly and headed home.
