Academic

The NAHB Student Chapter provides you with the opportunity to learn more about the house and light commercial building industries through guest speakers, educational trips, films, special courses, summer jobs, and notification of related community, state, and national events.

As a member, you are eligible to apply for many scholarships. Please see the attached details on applying for the scholarships available at Penn State University this fall. Other student chapter member scholarship programs are available through the National Housing Endowment at www.nationalhousingendowment.com.

Student chapter members are given the opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom to a real construction project. All student chapter members are eligible to participate in the project; however, only a team of six (6) students will be selected to participate in the 2011-2012 Residential Construction Competition at the International Builders Show. The selected six member team will be awarded an expense paid trip to the International Builders Show in Orlando, Florida in February 2012.

Active membership in an organization such as this looks good on your resume! Membership dues of $15 are payable on or before October 2011. Annual regular membership in NAHB extends from October 1 of the current year to September 30 of the succeeding year.
