Founding
The Minority Undergraduate Law Association (MULA) was founded
in the fall semester of 2004. The founders of MULA met at
a Summer Scholars program held at Penn State’s Dickinson
School of Law. All the ideas and concepts behind MULA were
envisioned during this summer. The Scholars program was one
of Dean Philip McConnaughay’s initiatives,
designed and developed by Professors Beth Cook and Stephen
Dodd, to prepare students that were aspiring
to go to law school. It was here that four program participants,
Justin Storey, Jessica Karp, Adedamola Animasaun, and Angela
Fuentes, realized that the knowledge they were being taught
was priceless. They wanted to relay their recently learned
information to others. MULA was formed with hopes of helping
under represented students fulfill their dreams of attending
law school.
Mission
The Purpose of the Penn State MULA is to inspire and promote
professional goals for undergraduate students who seek to
pursue a legal career or anticipate attending law school.
MULA has cultivated contacts with Penn State’s Dickinson
School of Law, legal professionals, and other associations
with similar interests to help our members learn about this
profession. MULA will also help attack some obstacles students
may have during the law school application period such as
the admissions test, choosing law schools best suited for
each student, and obtaining information about each law school.
