21st of August, 2009 - RAMADAN MUBARAK
Ramadan Mubarak InshaAllah for all Muslim brothers and sisters, and especially for our new coming brothers/sisters who will be spending their first Ramadan at Penn State. The MSA chapter of Penn State along with the Islamic Society of Central Pennsylvania will be arranging Iftar and Taraweeh prayer all month long. And we would love to share these spiritual moments along with our Muslim brothers and sisters.
Iftar is offered in the Masjid every night of Ramadan Insha'Allah. Everyone is welcome
Taraweeh Prayer Insha'Allah will be offered on Campus in the Spiritual Center (Across from Pattee Library) & in the Masjid (709 Ridge Ave). In the Masjid the entire Qur'an will be recited insha'Allah (One Juz' per night). On Campus Taraweeh will be shorter (half page per raka'a) for those students who want to pray but don't have the time to Pray one Juz' Per night. A schedule is attached with the room numbers for Taraweeh Prayer. Please keep in mind that Taraweeh is NOT prayed in the SAME ROOM every night. Taraweeh will begin right After Isha Prayer on campus & in the Masjid
The last ten days of Ramadan gain a prominent significance, as it was during one of these days that the holy book of Muslims, the Quran, was revealed. Muslims throughout the world engage in special prayers that sometimes span the entirety of the night. Finally, the end of Ramadan culminates with the start of the new month Shawwal, the first day of which is also know as Eid-ul-Fitr, where Muslims celebrate the successful completion of a month of fasting.
The day of Eid starts off with a Community prayer, followed by festivities where families and friends visit and dine with each other. It is a day where broken relationships are mended and new ones are formed, a day of happiness for all Muslims.

8th of September, 2009 - FAST-A-THON
During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset daily during the lunar month. These fasts are unique in that one must refrain from drinking, eating, sexual activities, and any ill conduct such as gossiping and negative actions toward one another while fasting. At sunset, Muslims break fast by eating together food that has been prepared by the whole community . Join us in breaking fast after experiencing a day of fasting that may hopefully help you reflect upon the daily blessings that we generally take for granted. Fast-a-Thon will include speakers and dinner from Halal Food Catering.
