1955 - Club Formed... Glenn Van Winkle, Acting Officer.

1956 - Charles Thornton is Advisor... John D'Angelo, Jr. elected president.

1957 - April 29: University Park and Eastern Founded... Richard Trimble elected president...

1958 - Francis T. Brown, Pennsylvania Railroad, Speaks. Charles Douds elected president...

1959 - Greetings Express Car envisioned by Andrew Banta, travels to NMRA Convention in San Diego ... Warren Ringer elected president... UP&E #60 appears in photos... (Still alive in 95)


1960 - Wallace Workmaster becomes advisor, resigns; R. Hadly Waters becomes Advisor.... Robert Neilson elected president, resigns 31 Oct 1960 . Charles Kolb assumes the position.

1961 - Four term year devised... Charles Kolb re-elected to full term, 61-62

1962 - Bruce Hulbert elected President...

1963 - Jan Nagle elected president...

1964 - Jan Nagle re-elected president...

1965 - Infamous Sabre Saw arrives... Robert Leeper elected president...

1966 - Motion made to go 1:1 for trolley line to East Halls... Layout II is begun in HUB. Bruce Hall elected president....

1967 - Bruce Hall resigns 3/14/67 Jules Marinaro assumes Presidency. Marinaro is re-elected to a full term for 67-68.

1968 - Charles C. Sharp elected president....

1969 - Dr. Spychalski becomes Advisor... Robert Short, Robert Russell and Dan Cupper hold their offices for two terms, 1969-1971... The first and only time the officer slate was the same two years running...


1971 - Mike Greene elected president

1972 - Randy Morrison elected president...

1973 - Cater nary on second layout? Phil Kania elected president...

1974 - Don Mulligan elected president... UP&E's towers first appear

1975 - Joe Lehnert elected president... Club Forced to vacate 19 HUB, dismantle Layout, Layout Three begun... Club Accounts come under ASA supervision

1976 - Bob Allan elected president...

1977 - Mr. Koontz gives model building clinic... Jerry Pavlinko elected president.

1978 - Steve Ross elected president...

1979 - Two women present at one meeting... Steve Ross re-elected...


1980 - Phil Schwarz elected president... UP&E Passenger Cars painted two-tone blue scheme...

1981 - Martin Zdzinski elected president

1982 - Jim Blair elected President

1983 - John Pogue elected president... Semester system starts fall 1983

1984 - Chris Lee elected President...

1985 - Jeff Feldmeier elected president... Club relocated to S-5; work on fourth layout begins... Track plan attributed to Jim Zubler...

1986 - Spring break 86 spent laying track... Golden Spike, Fourth Layout... Feldmeier re-elected...

1987 - Frank Mellott has a hand in most of the plaster... Frederick Monsimer Elected President... PENNRAIL is born

1988 - Frank Mellott elected president... Vice-President Office created: Cliff Cuffey is first...

1989 - Joel Long elected president...


1990 - Mark Leppert elected President...

1991 - CR 6042 Painted by Mark Leppert... Franz Kautz elected president...

1992 - Gary Meyers elected

1993 - Work Started on new Avis stone bridge... Near record Spring Open House held-- 889 attended! Club buys spectrum F40PH… Doug Whitehead elected president

1994 - PENNRAIL/NC SAGA... Reading Steam graced the layout... Gary Meyers Reelected President, the first split-term president… Fall Open House held Homecoming Weekend with favorable results...

1995 - PSMRRC Paints a "National Champion" Boxcar... Alumni List, 1956-1995 compiled... Librarian/Historian office Created... Joe Alexander is first... McKeever elected President.

1996 - Avis Bridge is finished! Rob McKeever re-elected president PSMRRC Appears in 1997 La Vie, and Dec 8th, 1996 issue of the Daily Collegian... N-track module sceniced...

1997 - Chris Wolfe elected President... Final Layout 4 Open House held in October; October sees destruction of fourth layout

1998 - Membership expands to Altoona . Space still not at hand...Entire N-track module donated by Bud Windell. Modules progress toward debut show

1999 - The club remains active, but only for occasional business meetings.


2000 - Jeff Graybill takes over as President of the club. 10 Pinchot Hall is secured as the new home for the club.

2001 - 10 Pinchot Hall is renovated. The club moves in and begins construction of layout number five in November.

2002 - The club decides to fully complete the bench work for layout five. Our third show is held in December.

2003 - The branch line track is completed. Tim Gogle takes over as club president.

2004 - David Guthrie is elected President…yards are wired…Ryan's Canyon is nearly completed. . December, Club makes front page of Daily Collegian with a picture of Matt Spinelli and Andy Magargee, with an article as well

2005 - 50th Anniversary of the club is greeted with the unveiling of a special anniversary train as well as a new UP&E Train
