Speaker: Dr. John Roe Title: “The Most Interesting Dimension” Description: At least on the scale of classical physics, we inhabit a four dimensional world (three dimensions of space and one of time). I’m going to explain why it is that a four dimensional world is the most interesting possible world for a topologist. Four dimensions give just enough room for some interesting geometry to get “wound up”, but in any higher dimension there is so much room that it can get “unwound” again.
