Some basic scuba certification courses offered at Penn State are KINES 45 (1.5) - Taught by Tim White and Craig Brown. The 15 week course prepares each student to become scuba certified, limited to classroom and pool training. At the end of the semester, the student will only have to complete a series of open water dives to complete their training and become certified.
Penn State does not have many diving opportunities close by to campus, but there are many field research opportunities. Although it is small, the marine related faculty is very active in science diving and is widespread throughout all colleges in the university.
Adventure Recreation - ( Paul Rentschler) A beginner course is offered, meeting 2 times weekly during the spring semester. Sunken Treasure Scuba Center offers classes as well.
