Alicia Anderson, Campus Minister
Things are never dull on campus, and the many changes through my years here at PSU help prove it (especially this year!)! I've been with Lutheran Campus Ministry at PSU for 13 years and I certainly haven't had the same exact job two years in a row! Programs, buildings, and staff may change, but students are always a delight and working on campus in the context of a faith community is something I truly enjoy and look forward to every day. I am grateful that we have such great students, council members and board members to help with things this semester.
Personally, I grew up in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, went to Luther College and Wartburg Seminary (both
in Iowa) and served in campus ministry in Nebraska and Wisconsin before coming
here to Penn State. I'm really a midwesterner at heart, but I do
find central PA just beautiful. My family includes my husband, Bob
Skelly (a clinical psychologist originally from Chambersburg), my 17
year-old daughter, Jessa, my 6 year-old daughter Mara, plus our Siberian
Husky, Nadine. We live in scenic Lemont, just outside State College on the side of Mt. Nittany. When I have free time, I like to read, go to the pool, walk
the dog, travel, bicycle, take photos, cook and watch old TV comedies and documentaries.
During the fall election, I became something of a presidential politics junkie, but I'm getting over that. I have become a real addict of "The Daily Show," though. I'm also very fond of ice cream, so if you tell me that you read that fact in my online bio, I'll treat you to ice cream at the Creamery!
The fall semester was great - lots going on, many returning and new students getting into the groove and never a dull moment! The new year and semester promise to be excellent as well! I'm hoping for some good, cold weather and lots of snow for a month or so before an early spring! ara2@psu
