NOVEMBER 2009
Thanksgiving Potluck—Sunday, November 15th Come celebrate turkey day before heading home! Sunday, November 16th, we’ll gather around 7 pm (after the 6 pm service) in Harkins Hall at Grace Lutheran Church and enjoy turkey and all the fixings! Bring whatever you’d like to share (don’t worry if you can’t cook or don’t have a kitchen—we always need beverages). There will be a short time for games after dinner and plenty of good company! Contact lutheran@psu.edu to sign up for your favorite dish or other meal item!
Habitat Workday—November 21st If you aren't heading home right away for break, you can help build homes and bring an end to sub-standard housing in the Centre region! Experienced or not, you are welcome to sign up and spend the day helping to build! You will have a great time and make a real contribution. If you want more information, or would like to sign up, email lutheran@psu.edu .
Thanksgiving Break !! It has been a long semester, but your much-anticipated THANKSGIVING BREAK is coming! LCM and LSCs mid-week events and programs will continue through November 20th, but will not be offered from November 23rd—November 27th. All worship services held at Grace Lutheran will continue through break, but Sunday evening dinner will not be offered November 22nd. Our regular schedule resumes on November 30th. Enjoy your time away!
Sunday Lunch On Sunday, November 29th there will be a student lunch after the 10:30 am worship service at Grace Lutheran Church. You are welcome to join other PSU students and enjoy a home-cooked meal, compliments of the members of Grace! Brine your appetite!
Join Alicia for Lunch Let’s do lunch! On or around the 1st of each month, you can join Alicia Anderson, the Lutheran Campus Minister, for lunch at a campus eatery. On Tuesday, December 2st Alicia will be hanging out at a campus eatery from 11:30 am - 1 pm.. Check the LSC google calendar after November 15th to find out where. Suggestions? Weekly Worship Services
Sunday 10 am - Ecumenical Worship Service
Pasquerilla Spiritual Center - All Faith Chapel
Student-based worship service offered to the whole PSU community in cooperation with the Episcopal Campus Minstry and Westminster Presbyterian Fellowship.
Sunday 10:30 am - Parish Worship
Grace Lutheran Church Sanctuary
Congregational worship with Holy Communion and all the trappings of a on-going community of faith.
Sunday 6 pm - Alternative Worship Service
Grace Lutheran Church Sanctuary
Informal-style worship with music led by a team of musicians. Attended by a mixture of students and community members. Holy Communion celebrated each week. Dinner and informal discussion follows.
Thursday 5:45 pm - Evening Prayer and Communion
Pasquerilla Spiritual Center Worship Hall
Student community worship service of song, prayer and Holy Communion. A quite break in the midst of your week. Dinner follows in the Garden Room.
Weekly Bible Study & Discussion |
Wednesday Bible Study
Bible study on Wednesdays starts at 8:45 pm in Harkins Hall at Grace Lutheran Church and there is plenty of lively discussion about the weekly texts. Everyone is welcome! Some students gather early to study or just hang out, so don't hesitate to come early.
Thursday Dinner & Discussion
After Worship Thursday, join the hungry crowd for dinner in the Garden Room at Pasquerilla. Dinner begins about 6:10 pm and is always a delicious menu. Dessert with study and discussion follows around 6:45 pm.
Sunday Dinner and Discussion
Gather in the Fireside Room at Grace around 7pm for dinner and informal conversation about current issues and faith. Feel free to bring friends and your own suggestions for issues to discuss.

Do you have prayer requests you'd like us to know about? If you'd like someone or something included in the public prayer of our community or the private prayers of our staff, email Alicia Anderson at ara2@psu.edu. Unless you'd like them shared in worship, all prayer requests will be kept confidential within the staff.
Don't know what you believe? Struggling with relationships? Need a listening ear? If you are feeling distressed or troubled, if you can't quite sort things out, if you just want to talk, you are welcome to contact Alicia, or one of the local pastors who have been helping this spring to talk. Part of why our staff is here is so that we can provide emotional, spiritual, and other support to students when they most need it! Just call, email, or ask one of us and, we'll find time to talk.

Electronic messages go out several times each week to our active students, and regularly to our entire list. LSC also has an electronic “communication hub” through PSU’s Angel online system.
