NOCHE LATINA

Noche
Latina is the biggest event hosted by Latino Caucus and among the
biggest Latino events at Penn State. It is a scholarship competition
consisting of three main categories:
For the monologues, the candidates
are asked an overarching question concerning the Latino population in
which they answer in their respective and personal ways. The talent
showcases the candidates' creativity and passion. The Q&A portion is where the candidates can display their knowledge by
answering politically and culturally based questions. These three
components reflect the pillars of Latino Caucus: academic
achievement, cultural awareness, and political advocacy. This night is
dedicated to the Latino community at Penn State and exemplifies Latino
unity by bringing together the Latino-based organizations to celebrate
our heritage, progress, and culture.
The winners of the competition are then crowned Mr. and Miss Latino Penn State. Winners are chosen based on their embodiment of Latino Caucus' mission. Mr. and Miss Latino Penn State are then required to complete forty hours of community service, put on an educational program, and participate heavily in Latino organizations.
