Leadership Opportunities

LASS is structured to allow for committees to take the lead on many of the events that we partake in.  This year we have expanded the number of events and therefore have an increased demand for student involvement.  Below is a list with descriptions of the current committees that need filling, all dues paying LASS members are welcome to sign up for as many of the committees as they like (within reason). Please direct any questions to your LASS Officers.

PARK(ing) Day

This year LASS will be participating in a national event known as PARK(ing) Day. PARK(ing) Day is an annual, one-day global event where artists, activists and citizens collaborate to temporarily transform metered parking spots into “PARK(ing)” spaces: temporary public parks. Organizations all over the country take action on September 18th to call to attention the need for more urban public space.  As part of the committee, you would participate in the design and installation of our parking stalls downtown on Allen Street.

Newsletter

LASS is responsible for releasing a bi-monthly newsletter to inform students, professors, and alumni of what is going on in studio. Topics include what each year studio is focusing on, LASS activities, and student spotlights. We are looking for an Editor and several assistants.

THON

As we are all aware, THON is the largest run student philanthropy event in the world. This year LASS will be raising money along with the Architecture Society. As a member of this committee, duties include fundraising and attending canning weekends.

Fall Fest

Every homecoming weekend LASS runs a 48 hour apple/apple cider sale downtown. Committee members will help organize the event, as well as sell goods. This is an awesome time and our students have been doing it for years and years! All LASS members are required to work at the apple booth sometime within the 48 hours.

Social Committee

This year, we are very focused on creating a social environment across all years. Members of the social committee would be responsible for organizing the Halloween Hayride, the spring Bowling Tournament, tailgates, the Banquet, and other social events.

Class Representatives

Each class will elect one person to represent them as a class. Responsibilities for this representative include: informing the class on when meetings are and participating in a monthly council meeting to discuss comments, concerns, etc.
