What is KTE? KTE is an honor society for co-op students in the College of Engineering (COE) and Eberly College of Science (ECOS). The society provides opportunities for professional and personal development as well as networking contacts with co-op students at other schools and with employers seeking full time candidates with co-op credentials.
What are the requirements to join this group?
While it is evident that members must have completed at least one co-op at the time of induction and maintain a high level of academic performance (3.0 GPA minimum), members are also required to pledge volunteer service to the Co-op program, the university, and the community by completing two events with KTE - one must be a service event.
How can I join?
Students are invited to join KTE at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters by the Co-op Programs housed within the COE and ECOS.
What is the service commitment and what types of service opportunities are available?
Students must pledge to complete 2 events each semester; one event must be a service event. The opportunities to complete these events vary widely and include volunteerism at COE and ECOS sponsored events, career fairs, First Year Seminars, and community activities. Students who have not completed service requirements should contact KTE advisors to learn about volunteer opportunities still available.
Can I join if I have completed an internship? KTE is an organization committed to completing multiple work rotations to gain career related experience. Students seeking membership from the COE who have completed an internship are eligible for induction if planning to return to the internship company for additional work assignments. Students in this situation should meet with COE advisor to determine eligibility.
How can I learn more about KTE? If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact the current officers or advisors for more information.
