We would like to thank you for considering Jung Sim Do Martial Arts Club to begin your training. We hope the training you will receive will be both physically and mentally rewarding. Improved concentration, increased self-discipline and physical conditioning will be a few direct benefits you will receive as a result of your dedication and effort.

The included information is a guide for: financial obligations on your part, description of instruction, class times, rules of conduct, general regulations, terminology, and a description of the promotional requirements. Please read it carefully and let us know if you should have any questions.

Please remember to always follow instructions and obey the rules and regulations of the school in order that we may all progress toward our goals safely.

Do Jang Rules

  1. BOW TO THE FLAGS upon entering and leaving the studio at any time.
  2. Remove shoes before leaving designated area.
  3. Show respect to instructors and higher ranked students at all times.
  4. No talking, laughing or any other type of disruptive activity during class.
  5. Keep studio clean at all times. Floor must be swept before each class. NO EXCEPTION !
  6. No Smoking in Do Jang.
  7. Do not come to class under the influence of alcohol or any other type of intoxicant ( unless legal and approved in advance by your instructor ).
  8. Exhibit good common sense in your actions to prevent injury to yourself or others.
  9. Each student is responsible for maintaining his or her personal hygiene.
  10. Uniforms are to be kept clean, tailored, and presentable at all times (e.g. pant or sleeve legs will not be rolled up).
  11. Students are forbidden to use Jung Sim Do techniques to provoke or challenge innocent persons.
  12. Students are forbidden to teach Jung Sim Do techniques to either students or non-students.
  13. Students are forbidden to demonstrate or to participate in any demonstration without prior approval from instructors.
  14. Do Jang reserves the right to terminate or to suspend any individual for infractions of any of the above rules.

Promotion Requirements

  • Every student is required to submit four recent photos for their first promotion.
  • Students are requested to submit a recent grade sheet at each promotion.
  • Students must submit a daily schedule for a seven day period with each promotion form.

If any of the above requirements are not met, 5 points for each infraction will be deducted from your total promotional score. Promotions are held once every three months.

Required and Recommended Equipment

  • Required - Traditional white karate uniform, white belt, patches and lettering on uniform. Plain white T-shirt is worn under uniform for women.
  • Recommended - Supporter and protective cup for men. Chest and abdominal protection for women. (Note: Violent physical contact is not practiced or tolerated. Protection is to guard against accidental injury. ) Any equipment can be purchased through the club.
Important Note: As per enrollment agreement - participation in any activity is strictly voluntary. If for ANY reason ( fear, physical disability, muscle pull, etc. ) you do not wish to participate in any activity, notify the instructor in charge. You will not be required to participate.

Your Financial Obligations

  • Enrollment Fee - This is a one time charge for file maintenance. We do not obligate you to come to class for any period of time and tuition is paid on a semesterly basis. The enrollment fee is $5.00.
  • Tuition - Tuition is paid by your third class of the semester. Adjustments can not be made should you not be able to attend as often as you had planned. Your understanding will be appreciated. Our book keeping must be kept to a minimum as well as other expenses in order to maintain such a relatively low semester cost. The tuition fee is $40.00 per semester.
  • Payment - All business transactions will be handled through the club treasurer. Checks will be made payable to the Jung Sim Do Martial Arts Club.
  • Late Charge - Payments that are received after your 3rd class of the semester will result in a $5.00 late charge.
  • Uniform - Standard white karate uniform with white belt. These can be purchased through the Federation for $25.00 plus tax.
  • Patches and Lettering on uniform - These items are required for your first promotion. The costs are: 1) Korean Flag Patch - $3.70, 2) Federation Patch - $5.30, and 3) Lettering (approximate store price) - $10.00
  • Promotional Examinations - $35.00 for each gup. Exams are held approximately at the end of each semester on a date determined by the Federation. All financial responsibilities must be paid ONE WEEK before the promotion. There will be a $10.00 charge for all retesting. Additional details are available upon request.
