- Show up regularly.
- Manage your time well so that you can come regulary. Make
time for class, time for studying, time for judo, etc. Do not fall
behind in your studies. People who fall behind end up skipping lots
of classes and sometimes skipping whole semesters. Judo practice is
only a few hours a week. You can make time for strengthening your mind
and body.
- Show up on time. Not 10 minutes late. Not just after we finish
cleaning. Show respect for all the people who work with you and donate
their time to help you learn and get better by being there on time.
Show respect for fellow judoka by helping to clean and keep the mats
safe to practice on.
- Get to know everyone in the club. There are lots of connections
to make. People who stick around in Judo are almost always worth knowing.
- Always show respect for your partners. Bow before and after
you work with them. No matter who, no matter what. Bow as you step
on the mat, and step off the mat. Bow as you enter and exit the room.
As you demonstrate respect for others, you will earn their respect.
- Keep yourself clean and ready. Have a clean Gi for each practice.
Make sure you are clean and healthy. Toenails and fingernails clipped.
No jewelry. Turn off cell phones and electronic devices.
