2009 Staff Announcement

PSID is proud to announce our staff for the 2009 season under the direction of Director, Matt Rutherford! The organization welcomes the return of arrangers Jim Ancona and Brian Tinkel, visual designer Brian Stoudt, and design team member Tollie Contento.

The line would also like to introduce Frank McGuigan to our staff for the 2009 season sharing the Ensemble Coordinator position with returning staff member Frank Franko.

Also joining our 2009 staff are members new and old including Business Manager Brian Cuce and instructional staff of Simon Wernovsky (Snare), Kyle Davis (Tenors), Brendan Fullam (Bass), Andrew Veit (Pit), Joe Curley (Cymbals),and Robert Flannigan (Visual).

Penn State officers and staff are excited for the team we have put together and look forward to another successful season in 2009!!

2009 Audition Dates Announced

The Penn State Indoor Drumline would like to announce the following audition dates for the 2009 competitive season:

Oct 25-26, Nov 8-9, Dec 6-7, Dec 20-21

These weekends will focus on music and visual auditions, and final cuts will be made progressively through the camps. Rehearsals for the season will begin in January 2009 and will consist of shows and/or rehearsals each weekend throughout the spring, leading up to WGI finals April 16-18, 2007. A more comprehensive season schedule will be posted here on our website. We will introduce the Director, Staff, and Officers in an organizational meeting for both pit and battery members and auditionees at the first camp. More information will be sent out regarding the first weekend as we approach the event. If you haven't done so already, fill out an Audition Information Form to be kept up to speed on all changes to our audition schedule and announcements. We look forward to seeing you there!

PSID Organizational Changes for 2009

The Penn State Indoor Drumline would like to announce a change in leadership for the 2009 season.  Brett Baker will be stepping down as director after serving in that capacity since 2005.  Replacing him will Matt Rutherford, an active member of the ensemble since 2002.  In Matt's time with the group he has been a marching member, officer, and staff member, making him more than qualfied to assume his new duties as Director of the ensemble.

In addition to the director role, the position of "Ensemble Caption Head" will be added beginning in 2009.  This role was created to have one dedicated staff member to coordinate the rehearsal schedule and show programming, separate from the director.  We are currently working to fill this position and hope to be able to annouce our decision by the fall.

Stay tuned for other staff announcements coming throughout the summer as we continue to make numerous improvements to our behind the scenes organization.  As with every year, 2009 is shaping up to be another forward step in the success of the group!

PSID Captures 3rd Consecutive PIO Medal

The 2008 Penn State Indoor Drumline completed their season capturing yet another medal in WGI Percussion Independent Open competition. As the only line in WGI history to win consecutive medals in PIO competition, PSID completed it second season with a Silver medal finish. The staff and members would like to thank everyone who made the 2008 season of Penn State Indoor a success.

PSID Performs with Keith Urban

Last night the battery members of Penn State performed live on stage with Keith Urban as part of his Love, Pain, and the whole crazy World Tour along with Carrie Underwood. The line joined the ranks of numerous other percussion ensembles used by Keith Urban at each of his performances. For a full press release, Click Here. Dues Payment This Weekend

For All Members: If you have been offered a spot, the first dues payment of $150.00 will be due this weekend.

New Website Release

After extensive redesigning the 2008 edition of the Penn State Indoor Drumline Website has been released! We hope you enjoy the new color scheme and feel free to let us know if you experience any problems with a result of the conversion.

Important Audition Info

For all auditionee's: New and important information regarding the next camp should have been sent via email. If you did not recieve anything, email Sean at spr5021@psu.edu and request a forward.

November 4th Camp Cancelled

Due to a variety of reasons we have decided to cancel the November 4th camp. We will resume our auditions on November 17th as scheduled. Battery auditionees, be sure to check out some new exercises and a show excerpt on the Auditions webpage for next camp. Pit, keep practicing the exercises you were given this past camp. All auditionees can expect communication from their staff in the next week.

PSID 2008 Auditions

The 2008 Audition Information site is now up and running. We are now accepting audition information requests for those interested in audition for the 2008 line. You can go directly to our audition information site by going to http://auditions.pennstateindoor.org. There, you can fill out an information form and we will keep in touch with you regarding updates for the auditions to be held in the fall.

Achieving our Dreams

Congratulations to the Penn State Indoor Drumline on their Silver Medal finish at the 2007 Winter Guard International World Championships. Penn State fought hard and successfully managed to complete another season as a PIO Medalist. The staff and officers would like to thank all members and sponsors for their support this 2007 season. Pictures and videos from the season will be posted online and announced over the course of the next few weeks.

The organization will be holding officer elections this weekend and all members are invited to attend and run for office. If you are interested, contact Brian here.

Video and Road Closure Advisory

After a long journey though the tundra of State College to find the shrine of video editing labs and after an epic battle with the villainous Macintosh, the Dream 3 Dance Sequence video is now up in the Members Area under Show Music. Enjoy!

Also, be aware that as of Thursday morning I-80, I-81, and I-78 were closed in some portions due to weather. More information on the exact locations of these closures can be found here but continue to check ahead before departing tomorrow and be sure to let us know immediately of any problems this may cause with your timely arrival.

The Forum Returns!

After much time and work the forums are back, bigger, and better! Check them out here and register for a username. Special boards will not be able to be accessed until special permissions are granted by the moderator.

Show Music and Audio Posted

Battery music has been posted in PDF format in the members area along with mp3s of the show. All members who are Penn State students can log into the Members Area by clicking the "Member's Area" link at the bottom of the page and logging in using your PSU Access Account. If you are not a Penn State student, you can create a login by going here and following the instructions. Once you do so, send your login name to Cuce here so you can be added to the access list.

Important Announcement for Members!

On January 13th and 14th we will be having our first "design" weekend where the writers will be in State College for the weekend. Design weekends will have a slightly different schedule: Saturday 8:30am-9pm, Sunday 8:30am-3pm. If you have any conflicts with this weekend or will need a place to stay as dorms will not be open for this weekend, e-mail Cuce ASAP.

Audition Camp and Photo Shoot Pictures Added

Pictures from our second audition camp have been posted to the Multimedia section. You will also find a few samples of the themed pictures from our photo shoot using the planned color treatments. Feedback on these pictures are most welcome and can be sent to the webmaster to be passed along to the design team.

As of the conclusion of our audition camps the 2007 line has been set. Check the Members page for any postings of spots still open. 2007 Show Announced

With the conclusion of our first camp, PSID is proud to announce its 2007 show entitled "Dreamscapes." This show featuring hints of popular music through the decades will explore the duality of dreams as a mechanism for playing out fantasies both in adventure and terror.

Audition Equipment Prep

For any member who is available tonight, we will be meeting at 9pm to prepare the indoor equipment for the audition camps this weekend and next. If you're around the area and not busy, all help would be greatly appreciated so just stop by the Blue Band Building and lend a hand!

Multimedia Section Update

As we begin the 2007 season the multimedia section has been changed to default to the 2007 media page. The media pages have also been modified to allow for easy browsing between seasons in order to view all the media we have. Obviously there are some seasons missing from our list, so if anyone has any media that we are missing, feel free to send it to us here.

New Members Only Area

Tonight we completed the redesigned members only area, accessible only by authorized members and staff. Here we will post music and exercises throughout the season as well as contact information for each member and announcements important specifically to members. To access this site, click the small 'Members Only' link at the bottom of this page. At present, only officers have access until the 2007 line has been set. Login is with your Penn State Access Account login info. If you are not a Penn State student, you can create a login by going here and following the instructions.

New Media

Today we posted two new items in our Multimedia section. First, the opening segment of Cass' awesome documentary featuring PSID and second, some random photos from parts of the season. If you happen to have any other random photos from the 2006 season, send them to our webmaster and he'll be happy to post them in that section! Enjoy!

Website Overhaul!

In an effort to do something different for this season and to put out a more organized and professional look, we decided to redesign our website. Still with all the same great features, things should prove to be more asthetically pleasing and less cluttered while still retaining some of that fun flare! If you have any developmental comments, direct them by way of our webmaster.

Audition Dates and WGI Regionals Posted!

The WGI regionals that we will be attending are now posted under the schedule page. Auditions for the 2007 season will be on the weekends of December 2-3 and December 9-10.
