The Penn State Indoor Drumline would like to announce the following audition
dates for the 2009 competitive season:
Oct 25-26, Nov 8-9, Dec 6-7, Dec 20-21
These weekends will focus on music and visual auditions, and final cuts will be
made progressively through the camps. Rehearsals for the season will begin in
January 2009 and will consist of shows and/or rehearsals each weekend
throughout the spring, leading up to WGI finals April 16-18, 2007. A more
comprehensive season schedule will be posted here on our website. We will
introduce the Director, Staff, and Officers in an organizational meeting for
both pit and battery members and auditionees at the first camp. More
information will be sent out regarding the first weekend as we approach the
event. If you haven't done so already, fill out an
Audition Information Form to be kept up to speed on all changes to our

Thank you for your interest in joining us for the 2009 season of the WGI
Independent Open Class Silver Medalist, Penn State Indoor
Drumline. Allow us to share some information that you may be
interested in:
The schedule on our website is the tentative season outlook at this
point. There may be slight variations to this schedule as time progresses
but we will be sure to make sure those changes are communicated as soon as they
arise. The current outlook will help you plan for your fall and spring. It is
important that you are able to make all auditions and camps, but if you have
any conflicts it does not mean that you cannot be in the group, you will just
be required to communicate your conflicts early on in the audition process.
As a member of the ensemble you will be asked to sign a membership
contract stating that you agree to the 2009 rehearsal and performance schedule
and to the financial obligations also associated with being a
member.
We will introduce the Director, Staff, and Officers in an organizational
meeting for both pit and battery member auditionees and more information will
be sent out regarding the first weekend as we approach the event. The
audition weekends will focus on music and visual auditions (all included on the
site as they become available). Official rehearsals for the season will
begin in December for 2 camps and then continue in January. The spring season
will consist of shows and/or rehearsals each weekend, leading up to WGI finals
April 16-18, 2009. The schedule found on our main page will give you an
idea of what the season will look like.
Unlike most independent class drumlines, and even scholastic, we are an
organization mainly logistically run by students. These student officers,
with the cooperation of the program's Director, select a staff and entrust to
the staff the design, composition, and education of the show. The biographies
of our renowned and professional staff can be found in the staff section of our
website, as well as a list of our 2009 Student Officers. Some things to
consider bringing to the first camp:
- Sticks
- Pads
- Comfortable Clothes and Sneakers for a Visual block
- Lunch will be provided for $2 dollars.
- Check the website for additional preparations closer to the time of
auditions.
This year we will be requiring all auditionees to pay a $30 audition fee
. This fee will help offset the costs of the various expenses incured in
running these camps. This fee is non-refundable and includes all audition
camps that you attend so you only have to pay once.
The weekend will consist of marching and playing so anything else you would
normally care to have, bring along. You will be receiving a
warm-up/audition packet when you arrive so there is no need to prepare an
individual solo. All auditioning will be done in your respective
sections. You will be free to move from section to section at your own
discretion throughout the course of the weekend, but ultimately your final
placement will be determined by the instructional staff.
With all formalities aside though, the 2009 Indoor Drumline promises a
rewarding experience for all involved. Not only will you become more
advanced as a percussionist/performer, but you will learn
valuable lessons to take with you wherever you go.
For up to date information and our calendar, continue to check our front page
and auditions page for more information and we will be sure to keep you
informed through e-mail of any changes in this falls informational
meeting. If you haven't done so already, fill out the
Audition Information Form found above and if you know for sure you are
going to attend, let us know by filling out the Registration
Confirmation Form also above.
