Help with Management and Resolution of Conflicts
Got problems? Adviser issues, challenges getting funding, help getting a job, conflicts in your department, etc.? The standard rules are first, work with your adviser, but if that is the problem or is not working, then go to your department head, but if that is also not really right, then the dean of your college is the next person you are supposed to ask. But sometimes, all of these paths do not give a satisfactory answer, and often just getting out of the department to get some discussion and help can make life easier.
Most things can be solved, especially with help from the right people. GSA provides an opportunity for fully confidential discussion about problems and references to people who can often help or at least know who to go to. Send an email to gsa@psu.edu to let us know what's up, and we can have a private meeting to discuss it. Our adviser, Phillip Burlingame is Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, and he knows a lot about how to help different situations and who is best to talk to for getting results on different issues. These are resources for us, so why not contact GSA if you need some help?

| Teaching Assistants: Please Help Undergrads Stay in School |
|
When undergraduates are just getting started as freshman, a little bit of support can help them decide if the decision to stay in college is right for them. Get to know the resources available that you can tell students about to help them through school, such as the University Learning Centers for help with assignments and Lion Support, which can help with all kinds of topics. For a full list of resources available, click here.
