Sponsorship Directors

Arun Ramachandran

Hey everyone! My name is Arun Ramachandran, and I am a Freshman majoring in Biomedical Engineering. This past August, I volunteered with the Fresh START Day of Service, cleaning THON Mats. The experience really helped me connect to my new community, starting my Penn State career off on the right foot. This year, I am proudly serving as one of two Directors of Sponsorship, working to make sure that future freshmen have an experience as great as mine. Aside from Fresh START, I am a member of the Engineering House and the Club Tennis team.

I’ve always enjoyed serving my home community in Massachusetts and doing everything I can to help others. I have been involved with Relay for Life in the past, captaining a team and organizing fundraisers in high school. I also love cooking and sharing my food-induced happiness with others. Fresh START allows me to spread this happiness while giving back to my new State College community. I’m a very friendly person so feel free to say hi and ask me about Fresh START or anything else that crosses your mind!

Suzanna Marrero

Hello! My name is Suzanna Marrero and I serve as one of the Directors of Sponsorship for Fresh START 2014. I am currently a sophomore in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences officially majoring in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. In my spare time you’ll see me working as a barista at the HUB Starbucks or for the Penn State’s Commons Desk Operations around campus. I am also in The Penn State Ballet Club, Volé, and a member of PSU’s Society of Petroleum Engineers and Society of Women Engineers as well.

My involvement with Fresh START in the past has been as both a participant and team leader, however I have been an activist for serving the community for as long as I can remember. I knew as a freshman coming into Penn State the importance of giving back to community but was unsure where to go. Through Fresh START, I was able to Get Rooted in my community and find meaningful ways in which to give back to State College.
