OCS will provide the greatest challenge of your new marine corps career.  its mission is:

"To train, evaluate, and screen officer candidates to ensure they possess the moral, intellectual, and physical qualities for commissioning and the leadership potential to serve as company grade officers in the operating force"

OCS is one huge test.  At all times will the staff be watching you and never assume otherwise!

Physical - pt is a daily occurrence.  It is usually about 2 hours, including a warm up and cool down.  Fartleks, squad runs, circuit courses, confidence course, martial arts training and the endurance course are just a few examples of the exercises you will participate in at OCS.  Most events are graded and if they are not the staff is still watching to see if you perform at 110%.

Academics - classes are a regular part of the routine.  Military history, weapons and tactics are a few of the topics you will learn at OCS.  You are expected to know and understand these topics and time is provided during liberty to review this information.  Multiple choice exams are given to insure your knowledge is satisfactory.  This is an easy way to maintain a high score at OCS.

Leadership - This is the most important part of your grade.  Leadership is measured while you hold a billet and when you are a simple rifleman.  Remember - at all times are you being watched so insure you give 110% all the time.  All candidates will serve at least once in a platoon level billet and some will even hold company level billets.  During your rotation you will serve as a squad or fire team leader multiple times.
