OCS will provide a new and challenging environment for most candidates.  Even the Prior enlisted Marines were surprised at the differences between Boot Camp and OCS.

Decisions are not made for you at OCS.  Your candidate billet holders have the ability to lead you in the right direction or to disaster.  The staff is there to insure a candidate never places themselves in real danger.  A schedule is provided to the Candidate Platoon staff and they are expected to insure their platoon arrives punctually.

A disciplined and regimented atmosphere is rigidly enforced.  There is no tolerance for laziness or inattention to detail.  These qualities will get Marines into trouble in the Fleet and are weeded out at OCS.

You will make many friends at OCS.  Hopefully, your platoon will grow very tight and candidates often maintain communication with their friends from OCS after graduation.  If you look out for the man next to you then he will look out for you - this is a philosophy that will be drilled into you at OCS.  You are no longer a single person, but one in a larger group who has one goal - accomplish your objective!
