Chaplain Announces Pending Resignation ...

The Venerable Daniel L. Selvage, Penn State's Episcopal Campus Ministry Chaplain, has informed the Advisory Board and Student Officers of his pending resignation.  Meeting with the Board in official session on Sunday, April 22, Canon Selvage cited a variety of "personal issues" have led him to reluctantly come to this decision.  He explained that, while the exact date for his resignation to become effective has not yet been determined, he will not be returning as ECM's Chaplain for the fall 2012 semester.  He note, however, that he will be working diligently over the next few months  to provide for a smooth transition in the office of chaplain and has pledged his full cooperation in providing an adequate orientation to the one who will be his successor.

In addressing this decision, Canon Selvage noted how very deeply he has valued and enjoyed his 3+ years as Penn State's Episcopal Chaplain.  Further, he requested the Boards' continued prayers for the Episcopal Campus Ministry community at Penn State, for those who will be part of the discernment process to select the new chaplain, and for himself.

This coming Sunday, April 29, will be the final Sunday evening Eucharist and Fellowship Dinner of the spring 2012 semester.  It will also be Canon Selvage's last time to be at the altar of Eisenhower Chapel as ECM's priest and chaplain.  The liturgy will begin at 6:15 pm.  Please plan to join us!

On that same evening, we shall be returning to Eisenhower Chapel at 9:00pm for our monthly ecumenical Taize Night Prayer service. This quite liturgy, co-sponsored by our Lutheran and Presbyterian ecumenical partners, features candle light, chant, brief scripture reflections, and extended periods of silence. It is a perfect way to bring us spiritual peace at the close of the day.

A midweek Lenten Eucharist will be offered on Wednesday, February 29, at 12:30pm in the Meditation Chapel at the Pasquerilla Center. This simple service, lasting approximately 20 minutes, provides an excellent way for us to practice our Lenten observance during the week.

    FRIDAYS DURING LENT

On Fridays during Lent, we are joining with the Roman Catholic Campus community for the Lenten devotion: Stations of the Cross. The Stations of the Cross is a wonderful service that helps us walk with Jesus the painful way of His cross that he walked for us. It also reminds us of just how much we are loved by God. Come and Pray! This is a great serviced to bring a guest - just a simple song, Scripture readings and prayers. The service is held in Eisenhower Chapel at 12:15 PM and lasts approximately one half hour.
