Activities
The ESC is both a social and cultural organization. It
actively participates in relevant University-sponsored activities, like
the Mediterranean Festival or International Fair, collaborates with other
international organizations (basketball tournaments, for example), as well
as organizes its own activities, like the European movie series.
On the social scene, the Club maintains weekly informal
meetings, sponsors parties (University Club, International Friendship House,
plus lots of private events at homes of the Club's members) and organizes
educational and/or entertaining trips (e.g., Shingletown Gap, Stone Valley,
white water rafting resorts).
In the recent past the Club has sponsored soccer and basketball
games, cross-country and downhill skiing trips (Tussey Mountain), as well
as participated in (either as an organization or as groups of its members)
rock climbing and water-skiing events. It is one of the goals of the ESC
to establish good communication and collaboration with other Penn State
organizations and sports teams in order to offer its members a wide variety
of indoor and outdoor activities.

Every Wednesday at 10 PM members and friends of the European
Student Club meet in a friendly atmosphere in Allen St Grill, on
corner of College Avenue and Allen St.
From time to time, official meetings are held on campus
(when announced).

Membership
Although primarily intended as an organization of Penn
State students from European countries, the Club welcomes members from
all over the world. This "open policy" is made possible due to the fact
that, because there are many different European languages, the official
language of communication is English. We believe that participation of
more Americans would help prevent the "cultural isolation" of the Club
from the environment at Penn State, and we also feel that anybody who feels
culturally close to Europe, or would just like to meet European students,
should beInvited to participate in the Club.
Membership fee: $5 per semester, or $10 per year.
Club members are entitled to discounts or free entry to
Club- sponsored activities for which a fee is charged upon presentation
of a valid membership card. There may also be some "members only" events,
but even when events are open to general public, members will still have
priority when the number of participants has to be limited. In addition,
only members are eligible to vote for officers and on issues relevant for
the Club's operation, as well as to take any post with the Club.
However, the privilege of being on the "euroclub"
e-mail
list is not conditioned by official membership in ESC.
