Community Academy for Lifelong Learning Project

The Community Academy for Lifelong Learning (CALL) is a local organization which holds continuing education classes primarily for senior citizens. CALL is planning to build a classroom facility, as currently they hold classes in various places throughout the community. A CALL officer, George Henning, approached the Economics Association in the Fall of 2003. In this case we were charged with determining the benefit of attracting senior citizens to the Centre Region, with activities such as CALL. If you'd like to get some more information on CALL, you can access their website here.

State Theatre Economic Impact Project

The State Theater is located here in State College that is currently under renovation. It's current owner, Mike Negra, approached the Economics Association in the Fall of 2002, in order for us to do an economic impact study of the renovation. Therefore, we were charged with determining if the renovation would substantially increase the economic activity of the downtown State College area.

The report was completed in 4 steps:
1. Create survey and circulate to local business
2. Create spreadsheets that show the expected impact
3. Research similar projects
4. Write the report
