Chi Sigma Iota
Rho Alpha Mu Chapter
On December 6 the fourth chapter meeting for the
2006-2007 school year was held. Rachel Smith, chapter
president, called the meeting to order at 4:30. The
official CSI meeting was shortened to provide a question
and answer period for first year students entering
practicum in the fall.
Welcome !!
The meeting began with the presentation of the agenda as
was as holiday Christmas song trivia.
Old Business
Two event were discussed as old business (a) social
event at Champs and (b) APA seminar. The social event
appeared to be a success. Approximately twenty students
attended the event at Champs and enjoyed socializing
with fellow students. The response regarding the APA
seminar was also overwhelming positive. CSI as a whole
expresses a big THANK YOU to Dr. Hunt for leading the
seminar.
New
Business
Emily reminded everyone about the upcoming events: The
Cookie Swap and Toys for Tots. The cookie swap is this
Saturday, December 6, from 1 to 2 pm in the Hub room
233. Everyone is asked to bring cookies and a recipe to
the event. Individuals wishing to participate in the
Toys for Tots event can meet in the parking lot behind
Cedar or at the Penn Stater on Sunday, December 7. The
event is from 4 to 6 pm and includes wrapping gifts. An
update on the upcoming CSI Statewide conference (March
31) was provided by Elizabeth. Updates included; Dr.
Herr agreeing to be the key note speaker (Yipppee!!!),
continuing to develop website, and encouraged CSI
students to attend as well as participate either through
displaying a poster or presenting on a topic (e.g.,
paper or project). Lastly, the vacancy of the vice
president was reported. An email will be sent out to
all current CSI members to ask for nominations.
Following the nomination process an additional email
will be sent to members enabling them to vote.
The official meeting adjourned
and a panel was assembled for the practicum question and
answer session. On the panel were two second year
elementary students, two second year secondary students
and a professor (Thank you Dr. Carney). Overall, the
first year students appeared to alleviate some concerns
through the process. The process was undoubtedly
therapeutic for the second year students as well, a
period to reflect.
CSI
wishes everyone a happy and relaxing holiday season!!! |
