Penn State Circle K

Here's the Dish on Penn State Circle K for our Members!

Say WHAT?
ASR Hours

ASR stands for "Active Status Requirements" - to be considered an active member of Penn State Circle K you must do the following:
  • attend at least 75% of the meetings, or read the minutes!
  • perform at least 15 hours of service with Circle K each semester
  • pay $40 in dues to the club treasurer for the entire year

Non-ASR Hours

Circle K would like to keep track of your non-ASR too! This is any service that will not count towards your active status requirement. It includes service done individually, or with another club. Totaling ALL of your hours will help you winrecognition at our District Convention because all service hours count towards your total! To tell us about your non-ASRhours, send a short description of the service and the duration to Tara [tpe5001@psu.edu], she can also answer anyof your questions regarding what does and does not count for ASR hours!

 "District Service Project"

Each year, the Pennsylvania District of Circle K organizations work together toward one goal.
This year, that goal is Helping the Homeless, or in CKI lingo, the DSP. So far this year PSU CK
has participated in DSP service by making fleece blankets and hats for the homeless, running
a tremendously successful Food & Clothing Drive in the State College area, and hosting a box
city in the HUB. Over winter break, about 11 members plan to travel to the Gulf Coast to work
for a relief effort with Habitat for Humanity. Go State!

K-Family

The K-Family includes Kiwanis International, Circle K International, Key Club International, Builder's Club, K-Kids, and Aktion Club. Kiwanis is our sponsoring organization, and the State College Kiwanis Club is Penn State Circle K's sponsoring club. Every Monday night, we send two of our members to attend their meetings to build a lasting relationship with our Kiwanians. Key Club is the high school level, Builder's Club is for middle school, K-Kids is for elementary aged students, and Aktion Club is for mentally disabled adults. Having so many branches of one organization is one reason why this club is great! Our sister clubs are of great resource and importance to Penn State Circle K.

PERK Points

"PERK Points" stands for "Promoting Excellent Relations in the Kiwanis Family". The District also keeps track of how much service we do with other branches
of the Kiwanis Family.

You roCK!

We want to reward our most active members! Look for awards each month for most service hours, most ASR hours, and the You roCK!, an award we give out at
every meeting to recognize a member who went above and beyond in service and leadership the previous week.
