About Us

This fall, CHAPS was in the Homecoming Parade for the first time ever!

C.H.A.P.S.

C.H.A.P.S is sponsored by the Department of Dairy and Animal Sciences and is associated with the American Collegiate Horsemen’s Association. It was created as a horse related interest and education club for the horse lovers at Penn State University. CHAPS believes that you can learn while having fun. Therefore, we have arranged for various club activities ranging from clinics, conventions, field trips, community service activities, fund raisers and social events, such as picnics, climbing Mount Nittany, and snow tubing. Last year, our volunteer work including assisting at the Centre County SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) as well as at a local therapeutic riding center. In addition, some club members enjoy non-competitive riding at the various farms located around State College, PA. Use the local barns link to contact the barns on your own or talk to other CHAPS members to find a barn that fits you! If you have any additional questions about the club, please feel free to contact any of the officers listed on our contact link.
